Santa Clara Urban Hotel & Spa

Tucked up a quiet street, this hotel has been tastefully renovated and the building is clean and tidy. However elements of the room are a bit dated/basic (particularly the bathroom) and the bed was as hard as rock with only 1 pillow (you need to ask for more). The breakfast here was unfortunately the worst we experienced during our time on the Island. The waiter was great, always saying morning and getting straight to work sorting coffees - but the food was the let down. Basic meat and cheese with a variety of bread products. We left each day disappointed. The roof top bar area is very small and unfortunately when we were there a large group of guests went up to this area everyday and smoked - meaning the small terrace was unusable to any other guests. However, the staff are great here - always smiling and helpful. The welcome little bottle of cava was a nice touch. The location is fantastic to walk into the old town (the hotel is also in the old town already) and explore the sites of the city. Overall, an okay hotel in a great location - felt overpriced for what it was, but Palms is pricey and the price likely reflects the central location - just don’t expect much for the nightly cost!

We have booked for about 5 nights and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel, is that they do have a rented parking spots near to it, unfortunately when we arrived we met the night shift male receptionist and he wasn’t cooperating at all. First, we asked him if someone can help us with the luggage, he said no there’s only me and i’m taking over the reception 😅 then we asked him about the parking immediately said the parking is full without checking.
The next day, we asked about the parking again to check if there are available spots but with another male receptionist, he said we don’t have parking and there’s a public one near by but with fees. We got surprised but thanked him anyways and decided to change to hotel.
The big surprise, the day we were checking out, the manger asked us if there’s a reason that made us shorten the stay and when we told her the whole thing she got very disappointed and apologized and got really upset with the experience we had because the parking wasn’t full and they rent them for their guests🙂

Long story short, the hotel is very nice, the manager is amazing, the rooms are huge but unfortunately they have a bad receptionists.

Some room for improvement but also very positive
No welcome drinks, ants in room, relative clean. No spa available. But very friendly and welcoming staff.
