Hôtel Elysée, Lyon1 / 10

Lyon, 92 rue Président Edouard Herriot 🧭 Map
A good basic room, the shower is very small, too small for anyone on the bigger side.
OK for short stay. Hotel building and rooms could use an update. Bathroom had the tiniest shower that I have ever seen. Basic petit dejeuner with yogurt/applesauce, croissants and baguettes, coffee/tea/hot chocolate and juice. Good location in city close to Metro which is easy to use.
The location can't be beat. Its right in the heart of the city. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful and spoke fairly good English. Rooms were small but comfortable. You do need to deal with some stairs so not good if you have mobility issues. Breakfast was only croissants and coffee. Its a great base to explore the city and I would stay there again.
Typical size for Europe. EXCELLANT location and very frindly front desk
Really friendly front staff, everything went smoothly and we would highly recommend to everybody
Its within the air clean area and if you have a vehicle it is almost impossible to reach it. Parking close by is available but difficult to locate.

Everyone was so kind. We had a late flight and very accommodating. Always asking if we needed anything!
Best stay of our trip so far. Would definitely recommend to others.
Amazing staff and beautiful place, if I come back to Lyon this is where I am staying.
Excellent location to visit all of Lyon! Central. Near main stations.
Well appointed hotel in a walkable area, with a great bakery around the corner. Reception and bar staff were professional, attentive, and efficient

I don't know what happened. The room rate was very high during those days. The room was very damp and the radiator was broken. Not worth it. Not recommended.
For business trips, the hotel has a high safety factor with free parking, the shower facilities are relatively small, and the breakfast is average.
The paper cups provided were full of hair, there was no air conditioning, and the surrounding environment was bad due to road construction... You had to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk Hygiene: No Environment: Too remote Service: No place to store luggage,
The room is small and simple, enough for one or two people. Overall it is good, with a separate bathroom and even a TV (but it can't be turned on). But there are two problems. The first is that the location is a bit remote. It was night when I checked in. Not only was there no one on the whole street, the street lights were dim, and there were road repairs everywhere, which made me nervous all the...
The room facilities are compact and clean. The breakfast is rich: 7 or 8 kinds of bread, yogurt, milk, coffee, cheese, fruit dishes; 900 meters walk to the subway station. The only small regret is that you can't store your luggage after checking out
the budget hotel that offers everything you could want or need during your stay. Next to centre city and train/bus stations are available just around the corner.

Nice and clean, at a quiet area of the city, easy to walk around
Lovely staff. No air conditioning so please bear in mind. Nice neighborhood
Slow service in my experience but facilities good I arrived a bit late so not many staff on premises but although the receptionist saw me and another guest behind me queuing at the check in desk she continued chatting to bar customers for another 10-15min or so.
The room was clean with a modern bathroom. Minimalistic design didn’t bother me, the sleep was comfortable. Wi-Fi worked great.the location is convenient between the center and the train station. The problem was the noise from the street. My room on 2nd floor faced the street and the windows were „nonexistent“ - very old with zero noise- canceling. During the day there was a non-stop construction noise...
Very good Everything was clean. Nothing superfluous but all that was needed, except the tea facility in the room.
Hotel same name as a Glasgow television series I had a 24 hour stay over between flights in Lyon and wanted to try this hotel as ts called the same name as a Scottish Glaswegian detective television series called Taggart . There is a Chinese restaurant next to the hotel, named "Jiangnan". The hotel waiters are very friendly and the key is made of copper, which is very heavy and big.
The hotel is okay. The neighborhood is very noisy, and despite the double glazing, I can hear a lot of road noise. There aren't many restaurants in the area.
Well located hotel because very close to the tramway. Warning: no air conditioning and some odors from the bathroom. Very welcoming staff. Good value for money.
The garage is about 200 meter away ,on the same road but with shops in between. You get a code to open it .The garage didnt feel so safe even i f they said they had security cameras in it. Bed for two was tiny. And breakfast could have been a little more. For example no eggs. But location nice and nice service.
Old - No issue for me, for spending one night is okay No aircond - With fan, open your windows then problem is solved. Appreciate the receptionist - helpful guy The only negative comment: If you are solo traveller, becareful with the surrounding. Could be dangerous at night. Really surprised to witness an accident.
The staffs were very friendly and the room was quite big and cleaner than i expected. They also stored our luggages througout the after checkout which was very convenient.

Absolutely charming hotel in the heart of Lyon I originally booked one night here and ended up staying three — that says it all. My room was huge, clean, and had a stunning view of the Lyon theater. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city, yet on a peaceful street just steps from the river and the Old Town. Everything is within walking distance, including public transport and the main...
Perfect location, friendly staff and good value. Breakfast consisted of a croissant, 1/2 baguette, butter and jam which was fine with us. We were offered plates to eat off when we asked but ordinarily breakfast is eaten off the white paper table cover which although it does get changed, we found as odd. It has a slightly shabby feel but we still feel the price was good value for us and we would stay...
It is exactly what you expect from a 2 star hotel. It does what it says on the tin and it does it fairly well. You are warned about the staircase situation, granted. This being said it is ludicrously difficult to manage with luggage.
Great location, friendly & helpful staff, comfortable room, availability to purchase a delicious breakfast—we’d definitely stay here again. The only caveat is that there are a lot of stairs, so it’s more ideal for those who travel light.
Be aware that this hotel hasn’t got a lift ( just like many hotels in Europe that located in heritage building area) so it doesn’t suit people who carry big suitcases. Hotel is located very close to central area. There are so many restaurants and cafes nearby. Very convenient location and easy to walk to the old Lyon town. It was quite noisy on Friday and Saturday night but that is not a problem for...
To be fair, this is a great place if you're looking for a party in the city center of Lyon, and if you're are unopposed to lots of steps with luggage, 4 flights! Rooms were clean, and very basic. The staff extremely friendly and helpful it is very noisey at night. Probably would have loved it 30 years ago, as a younger person because it's very affordable and clean.

This is a perfectly situated small hotel right in the old part of Lyon, steps away from all the shops and restaurants, and a short bridge walk away from the city. We were with our teenage daughter in a family room, and it was spacious and lovely. The staff was also wonderful. The next time we're in Lyon we'll be back.
Hotel Academie as the name suggests was indeed an academy in the 14th century. The hotel has been remodeled Beautifully to keep the spiral staircase and the landings with a few steps to each room. Each floor must have 4 rooms. They are very rustic and finished with a grandeur look to it. We had booked a suite and each room had its own bath and toilet; amenities included 2 TVs , an armoire in the 2nd...
The room was lovely, spacious, and spotless with a beautiful bathroom and top notch amenities. Besides great beds and luxurious linens, the front desk person was very welcoming and helpful. A real find!
Great location in old Lyon. We got a “family” room which was 2 bathrooms and 2 rooms, 1 with a king bed and one with 2 single beds a small table and chairs - perfect for me and my 2 daughters. Nicely updated room, air conditioning and nice bathrooms. The building is beautiful . Liked the water station to refill bottles and the option to have breakfast if we wanted. The stag was friendly and helpful...
Fabulous property, recently renovated, and located right in Vieux Lyon. Everything is walkable, there are many good restaurants, bars, ice cream, shops, etc. While the neighborhood feels like you have stepped back in time, the rooms are very modern and well appointed. We were a group of three female travelers and the room was able to be arranged perfectly for us with three separate sleeping spaces...

Room was very small and shower stall was too tight to move within without hitting the walls. No storage to speak enough. Tiny elevator. Good breakfast.
This a typical small boutique hotel. So don’t expect the space and amenities of a big chain hotel. Yet, I had a wonderful experience there. Here is what you get: A clean, comfortable room (bedding was clean and super comfortable- slept like a baby)- yes not super roomy but didn’t need more to enjoy, clean and modern bathroom (small indeed - it is a typical older French building), the most friendly...
Room was tall and classy if a touch small. Bed was sublime, we were asleep in 2 mins! Efficient shower room but are not for large people
The location was very nice. My room was on the fifth floor but the elevator was only until the 4th floor. The steps to the fifth floor were really steep. The room was on the top floor. If you have height, I don't recommend the room at all. The roof is too low. The room was clean. Whenever I went out, I had to leave the key in the reception, which was weird for me. The metro is very close to the hotel
Great location and clean, functional room.

Excellent service by Mr. Ruben. He waited for us till 11.30pm although the reception closes at 10pm. 5 Stars only for him ! Enjoyed the Night there.
Perfect for a day in Lyon. Rooms were clean, service was prompt and friendly. Garage was under the hotel. The Saturday farmers market is a 5 minute walk.
We had the family room. Was spacious, super clean, with all necessary amenities available. Breakfast was very good and had a great variety of croissant, fruits, cold cuts, cheese, musili, and all sorts of fresh juices.
Even though the hotel is not in the city centre, it is closely located to a metro station and the Mur des Canuts. The rooms were clean and since our rooms where located to the back, it was not noisy at all during the night. The buffet was small but sufficient. Price-quality was great. The staff was very kind and helpful. We were also happy that we were able to rent a parking spot for 10€ per night...

Thanks also to the one who was in charge of breakfast. It's a shame to learn that this local hotel is going to close, it allowed less fortunate people to find a solution.

My partner and I were delighted with our 10-day stay at MHL in Lyon, France. We selected Lyon because we really liked the boutique MHL property. This is the first time we've spent an entire mini-vacation in one place, and MHL is a great location from which to explore the many quality sites in Lyon. Our room on the interior courtyard wasn't flashy, but it was well-appointed with a very comfortable bed...
We had a wonderful 2 week stay at MHL! After a rough start to our first international trip as a family (due to the airlines), our hosts were there to greet us. We enjoyed the private entrance and the homey atmosphere our loft room provided. Julie was always available to answer questions and provided us assistance in navigating our way around the city (including how the parking garage system worked...
It was a wonderful experience. Great hospitality, great location. Julie was always in touch and helped us. The room itself is very cozy and beautiful, there are many cafes, restaurants, shops nearby. It is really a worthwhile place to stop and explore Lyon.
MHL was exactly what we wanted for our first international, family trip. The entrance to the room was private and the room more like an Air BnB with the perk of cleaning services. This made our room feel like home away from home. The location was excellent with easy access to public transportation, a parking garage nearby, delicious cafes and restaurants all around us, and within walking distance to...
We spent 10 nights at MHL and absolutely loved it! The hosts, Jean Charles, Claire and Julie, are the kindest and most helpful hosts we have ever had. The suite was very comfortable and we slept well in the bed. Having a clothes washing machine was really convenient, and the dishwasher was nice, too. The location was perfect: a few minutes walk to the main metro line, there is a fantastic bakery right...
Overall pleasant with some minor imperfection Overall a pleasant stay. The owners tried their best to appear helpful. Clean, furnished apartment with full utilities. However, the so called courtyard was in the vicinity of the kitchen of a restaurant, with staff throwing out garbage into a dumpster which happened to be in the centre of the courtyard. Additionally, noise insulation was suboptimal.

Perfect location in the city center, just 3 minutes away from the FlixBus station. The only point I want to mention is that the breakfast price could be cheaper; it doesn't seem worth 16 euros
Great boutique hotel, conveniently located close to old Lyon, shopping and restaurants, family friendly and offers tasty breakfast! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful with finding places to eat and taxi reservations. Hotel staff spoke fluent English so we did not have any problems communicating.
Bathroom really very small and noise from the street and pipes at night, the insulation of the windows needs to be reviewed. Otherwise clean and comfortable. The host is also very well located.

The hotel is nicely decorated but mediocre for the rate, but breakfast was terrible. Fruit, bread, toppings, none of it was fresh or attractive.

The property was quite dirty, things needed a good washing and the 1/2 floor revamp was quite odd
The hotel front desk was very welcoming and check-in was smooth. The room was small but very clean. The hotel is in a good location. It takes only a few minutes to walk to the train and other attractions in the old town. There are also many shops around for convenient shopping!
My only complaint is that the street was blocked off with construction and we had to drag our bags a block to the taxi stand. We are in our 70s and that was very hard on us. If i had known, i would have picked a different hotel. Solely due to that. Otherwise, we really liked the hotel and staff!
This is a budget hotel in a great location. The bed is not the most comfortable and we spent too much time killing mosquitos in our room. But the location is excellent, right close to old town in Lyon, and the price was very affordable. It had a nice comfortable shower. I marked it a 3 on cleanliness because we had so many mosquitos in our room not because it was dirty. It was clean.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, 5-7 min walking. One can reach the "old town" by takin the metro in the main station, it's a 10 min ride (approx 2€). There is a shopping mall in front of the train station and caffeterias in the station, that are good to get supplies. It's good option if you don't mind a quick train ride after finishing the touristic walking
