Villa Otero by Happyculture in Nice

The photos online make this hotel look like it’s a such a cute hotel but when you get there you will quickly learn that it is not the place that you’ve seen online. I have pictures of my room, pictures of my view from the second floor.

On my last night there the safe battery ran low and would not open and I had to wait for the manager to show up at 7 AM to open it. My flight was at 7 AM. The staff was very nonchalant like there’s nothing we can do. You have to wait. The night staff did not even want to call the manager to let him know it was 12:30 AM when I came in I understand but for me it was urgent. And for them it was- oh well it’s not my problem attitude that really offended me and the same in the morning when the manager finally arrived and acted as if it was my code, the same code that I had used for the past three days, as I came and left, opening the safe and closing it each time to put my passport and money back in or take it out. Last we realize that the battery was low, and he put the key in it, reset it to open. At No time was I compensated for this, I lost out $400 for the miss flight and ended up having to spend almost $700 to book the same flight for later that day. At one point, I broke down crying at the front desk when I came down to ask why the manager hadn’t called me when he came in and he said oh because you’re supposed to come and check in with me it was that kind of care for Customer that hurt my feelings so much. I was alone with my daughter and feeling very stuck in a bad situation that was not my fault . He then walked away to get the key without even saying anything to me and left me there in tears.

This place was like this from beginning to end. The sink was not working properly so they sent someone to fix it. The coffee machine broke down when I tried to use it and it overflowed the water onto the tray on the table, they sent someone to clean it up and fix. The walls are bubbled all over, the view from 208 is of apartments and there was dog poo outside the entrance that was never cleaned. And finally the safe situation in the end. At check out the manager offered me a free breakfast. I passed it up and left as quickly as I could to get to the airport to try to catch another plane.

As for the neighborhood unfortunately it is not a nice one. It is rundown. You see the pictures of the hotel you think you’re in a nice area. The good thing is the convenience of how close you are to the beach you can walk there in 7 or 8 minutes, once you get there it’s much better. This was not a good experience for us. Very unfortunate and costly.
