Avia Hôtel Saphir Montparnasse

Stayed 3 nights. Fairly decent hotel. Small rooms but sufficient.
Female receptionist was very friendly, which we really appreciated. The male receptionist was rude to us when we were visiting with our friends in the lobby last night. He didn't care for our child's tone, stating he is too loud and we should go to our room. Upon heading to our room he made a rude face and hand gesture to us- extremely unacceptable behavior, especially from an "adult". There were other adult guests talking loudly but no comment or rudeness towards them. Definitely felt discriminated and uncomfortable. It's easy & self fulfilling to be nice and courteous.
I hope this review will help management address this situation as this behavior has been reported in previous reviews.

Me(American) and my girlfriend(she’s from south France) were visiting Paris for my birthday and found this hotel. Price and location were awesome but had a couple issues.
I am an online student in America and my class is Friday 2am French time. We got there Thursday and the staff was amazing and even let us keep our bags there since we arrived early. That night there was a full blown party at the restaurant next door or something with karaoke and everything till around midnight. I went downstairs to see if I could see the white lights on the Eiffel Tower around 1 but shortly returned back to the hotel. My girlfriend was already having issues sleeping so I stayed downstairs in the lobby and noticed the night receptionist in the dining break room corner and greeted him and got no response. Went to get my laptop to wait for my class at 1:30am Friday (28/2/2025). I use Bluetooth headphones but they didn’t connect and my teachers voice came through the laptop. While I’m working to reconnect them the night worker almost immediately comes out of the corner to talk to me. He was asking questions but I told him I don’t speak French and if he spoke English or Spanish. He proceeded to ask me if I had a room after he saw me leave and return downstairs. I guess my laptop speakers were too high and my instructor voice disturbed his peace to make a big deal out of it. I ended up having the class in my room bathroom to not deal with him or disturb my girlfriend.

All in all great start by all others to be ruined by the end on the same day. Will be making different choices when we return to Paris. Also there is way better choices within walking distance(5-8mins) to charge 16€ for the simple breakfast.

Complaint Regarding Disrespectful and Discriminatory Behavior from Receptionist (December 23, 2024, Between 23:00-01:00)

Dear Hotel Avia Saphir Management,

We have been staying at your hotel in Paris since Friday and, until tonight, had a wonderful experience. In particular, we want to express our gratitude for the exceptional service provided by the gentleman who was at the reception during our first two nights. He warmly welcomed us, made us feel truly valued, and enhanced our stay with his kindness and professionalism (he mentioned he is of Moroccan origin).

Unfortunately, our experience tonight was completely the opposite. My brother and I were sitting in the lobby between 23:00-01:00 when we encountered a receptionist who was not only disrespectful but also displayed behavior that we perceived as discriminatory. This man, whom we met for the first time tonight, continually interrupted us, asking in a rude tone whether we “needed something” or “didn’t have a room,” accompanied by unfriendly stares and gestures that made his annoyance with our presence very clear.

He seemed to suggest, without reason, that we were unwelcome or perhaps suspicious, and muttered “strange” under his breath as he walked away after one of our replies. The impression left on us was deeply troubling, as it seemed driven by prejudice against us due to our appearance or heritage.

To escalate matters, the receptionist deliberately left the automatic entrance doors propped open, causing the lobby to become uncomfortably cold. His apparent intention was to pressure us to leave the lobby, as he returned to close the doors only after we had gone upstairs to our room. He also refused to switch on the coffee machine, falsely claiming it was broken, further showcasing his unwillingness to provide even basic hospitality.

This level of treatment stands in stark contrast to the excellent service we experienced from your other staff members and leaves us feeling humiliated and racially targeted. Unless there are immediate consequences for this individual and corrective actions taken, I will not only refrain from staying here in the future but will also strongly advise others to avoid this hotel. Such behavior is entirely unacceptable in any establishment, let alone in one with otherwise great standards.

When you are in a bad situation, this will happen in this hotel.
1) situation: unenviable flight cancelation
2) hotel reply: next time you take a good look in the hotel policy

I booked 2 nights, but due to personal reasons or a mistake, I couldn't go to Paris. The hotel did not take any action and I was told that it was absolutely not possible, so I lost over 300,000 won for 2 nights. I contacted Trip.com, but I still haven't heard back. It's unfair. So I ended up staying at another hostel.
