Reviews
The hotel itself is clean, the staff very welcoming, and the room comfortable. Just note that there is no fridge in the room. Otherwise, no complaints.
I immediately went to the management. To my shock they seemed completely fine with it. When asked to see their health inspection report, they brought out a pest control receipt, which was obviously not what I was asking for, and when I pressed them they told me they were not required to by law to display it. I then asked for a refund on the food and suggested that a partial refund on the stay was also in order, since I would have never chosen to stay at the place had I known. To which they basically laughed at me. They told me they would consider refunding that specific meal and the ones we have not had yet, which was only 2 breakfasts, otherwise they would do nothing more. Then they casually told me that it is absolutely normal for places in Paris to have rats. My understanding is this is absolutely not true, and only stated by restaurants caught with rat problems.
This place clearly has serious health and sanitation issues since the staff did not at all appear to be concerned with any of this.
Edit: Reading their other reviews I see that the hotel will respond to anything lower than a 4 star review, and in all of them they say something to order of "We wish you would have told us about this problem during your stay and not in the review after the fact"; however having told the staff of this issue right away it is evident that that is empty, and they do not actually care to address serious grievances.
Abundant breakfast, great location (between 2 metro stops and a bus stop nearby).
The room was a bit crampy, but otherwise clean and with a decent bathroom. Fortunately, got the window on the side of the courtyard, not from the street, so it was pretty quiet and you could sleep with an open window.
- good breakfast (loved the bread and butter options
- location close to gare du nord, and relatively not far from the touristy places one would want to see in Paris
- coffee machine in the room
- close to a minimarket (a carrefour) and lots of restaurants
- clean room
- some breakfast staff were quite friendly
- pillows were nice and full
Cons:
- reception staff lacking friendliness (then again, this is Paris, and I’ve found people to be quite rude so I guess this is on brand for the city). Except for the lady who checked us out, she was quite lovely.
- no slippers in the small cabinet of items you can purchase. When we asked if they had slippers, the lady at the desk immediately said that’s only available in 4-star hotels and they were 3 stars. Sounds about right when you consider the service. We were asking so we could purchase a pair of slippers for the room, as we had been able to do in a not even 3-star hotel in Lithuania. So to be judged immediately as if we were asking to be provided with slippers implied she thought we were thinking that the hotel was fancier than it actually was and was quite off-putting. The woman who sat beside her also kept either feeding her answers or talked while we were talking to her, and in a snotty manner at that.
- room smaller than what you can deduce from the photo, but still ok as we were only there to sleep.
- shower ridiculously small, and the floor was quite slippery. Shower also randomly got super hot and then when you move the tap even just a little bit, it would be ice-cold.
- airconditioning in the room did not work. We turned it on and it only spewed hot air.
The premium room was a really good size and the bed very comfortable and very reasonably priced.
However, a little bit like the curettes egg, it was only good in parts.
The arm of the sofa bed in the lounge was missing; whilst adequate supplies of coffee were left which we didn’t use, no teabags were available and I had to ask at reception every day for a supply.
My biggest concern was the strong smell of urine in the toilet. Obviously, somebody‘s aim not been good and I guess the floor had not been properly cleaned and disinfected which was somewhat disconcerting.
The breakfast wasn't as expected.
Service : Good. No complaint at all.
Breakfast: everyday for 4 days it's the same. Nothing changed all. Will get bored and remember the raste of everything until you will want to find some other place to have breakfast.
Rooms : not good for us. Basically xant walk at all. We have to climb over the mattress everytime just to reach the luggage and table from the toilet.
And the toilet. Seriously management ? Profit maximising to this extent? I don't blame the staff but I blame the management. I am a Asian and I can't even move around the toilet without knocking on every walls. I can't imagine a European or American body size able to even fit in to that toilet.
And the shower area is actually a raised platform which makes it even harder as we need to climb up. With water slippery and climbing it makes it even harder to access.
Other than the room , basically everything is up to standard.
Thanks.
