Hotel Glasgow Monceau Paris by Patrick Hayat in Paris

The rooms are small and could benefit from more cleaning; there was a musty smell when we arrived. The heating system is centralized and never turned on, despite individual controls in each room, making them ineffective.

During our stay, we requested an extra towel, but the manager was unprofessional and unhelpful when my wife made the request.

I booked directly with the hotel and paid a rate that included City taxes, as confirmed by the invoice they sent me. However, we were charged again this taxes during check-in. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to pay again to avoid losing our already-paid accommodation.

After checking out, I realized I had left my perfume in the room. When I called to recover it, the hotel staff made it impossible to retrieve.

This experience was very disappointing, and I feel this review is warranted based on the issues we encountered.

Check-in was at 3PM. When we arrived at 3:30 and tried to check in, we were told that our room hadn’t been cleaned and that we would have to wait. While we were waiting, the receptionist left the reception area to speak to the cleaners. I was appalled to hear the receptionist SCREAMING at the cleaners. The cleaners were clearly very frustrated and were also shouting back. The shouting was extremely loud and sounded extremely hostile. When the receptionist came back, he was clearly very angry and it created a horrible atmosphere for myself and the other people waiting in the lobby. I have never witnessed anything like it during a hotel stay. The receptionist said that we could check out at 12 because of the late check in. However, on the last day, the receptionist had phoned our room and tried to tell us that we were late checking out. Communication between the hotel staff is not good.

The rooms are very small and the shower is extremely small. The shower head only pointed in one direction, so that was frustrating to use. The rooms also feel very dark no matter what time of day it was.

The cleaners come into the room even if the do not disturb sign is on. This was really frustrating and I have read previous reviews about this happening. It is not acceptable.
Our air conditioning was also very noisy and did not work very well.

The only plus side to this hotel is the location. It isn’t super touristy and it has close transportation links. Also, the receptionist was not rude to us directly.

Overall, the hotel is understaffed and small. I would not recommended the hotel and I would not stay here again.
