Hotel Le Rocroy

Staff were helpful enough, but with just one person before us it did seem like a very long wait just to check even though it had all been paid for and arranged online beforehand. I think hotels need to have some fast track service for pre-booked rooms.

The hotel itself and the rooms/bathrooms are clean and tidy enough, no weird smells, damp etc...

But the lifts are tiny and uncomfortable, the rooms are tiny, but they do utilise the space well (I guess you would have to).

The TV was ok but not many English channels.

The main problem was room cleaning. One time we came back from a long day out and we went to open the room day to find it was already open and slightly ajar, with all our stuff in the room. That's a bit disgraceful and unsecure, anyone could have walked in and stolen stuff, incompetent cleaning staff (or whoever went in the room).

Its got a good location, walking distance to the Gare Du Nord so that is a plus point.

There are much worse hotels in the area so if space is not important and you can place valuables in their safe (or take with you) then its not too bad.

I first stayed at Le Rocroy whilst on a school trip in April of 2015. Our party on the trip included 30+ students, 4 adult chaperones and 1 tour guide. We arrived around 9am and were greeted by a reception of two staff members who were surprised by the size and enthusiasm of our group. Considering the size (and noise) of our party, the hotel staff had their hands full, and even threatened to kick us out of the hotel if we didn't settle down! The tour guide was able to reason with them, but some members of our party were very nervous at this time. The hotel itself is a 15min walk away from the station, making it an ideal location. Within the area are lovely restaurants and corner shops for evenings during which you don't want to venture too far. We were in and out of the hotel during our 5 day tour, making it our place of refuge at the end of the day. In the mornings we were met with a delicious breakfast of pain du chocolat and other dainties, in a beautifully designed basement dining area. All in all, in my experience Le Rocroy provided an excellent stay for our large group and is perfect if you'll be in and out for most of your stay- just don't be too loud!
