Lobby, lift, corridors and rooms were all kept very clean. The food and drinks at the restaurant were really tasty, and the price was about what you would expect for a location like this.
Bed was really comfortable. There was wired and wireless internet access in my room.
I’m personally not a fan of the old fashioned bathtubs, and the plastic appliances in the shower were severely yellowed.
The hallways stink, walls are covered with sticky wallpaper to cover up the dirty walls, but at least the numbers on the doors look nice.
The first room they gave us had a leaking a/c unit and the water was dripping down the walls and onto the rug (nothing is worse than wet socks). After verifying that the room was leaking water, they put us in another room that had to be sitting for days or weeks because when we walked in, the room smelt horrible, and the a/c was bad. We told the front desk, and they sent a technician in, but he said the a/c was fine. The a/c in the leaky room was stronger.
Also, the bathroom was horrible. The toilet took three flushes until the toilet paper went down. Faucet was rusty, and the wood around the bathtub was falling apart. They also gave us two bottles of conditioner and no shampoo. The bathroom has the pump style bottles on the wall.
It was not a pleasant experience overall.
Breakfast is nice with the option for fresh made eggs. In the morning there is a fresh coffee machine for a pick-me-up.
In the lobby area is a nice courtyard restaurant that has good food and fancy drinks.
Staff has been nice and the hotel is reasonably quiet from outside traffic.
The nearest metro is about 3 min away. Sitting across from the park, there are 3 of your Paris must see sights within a 15 to 20 min walk.
The bad: when you first walk in, all you see is a cluttered courtyard that is under repair, so not accessible to guests. The rooms and the entire hotel are in desperate need of an upgrade: dingy, stale carpets, & depressing. It is honestly such an extremely outdated property that charges so much per night. The shower in our room had an extremely high tub, to the point where you have to do a high knee lunge to get into the shower and be extra cautious when getting out of the shower. There was no refrigerator, microwave, or coffee maker in the room. If you need coffee from the lobby, the coffee machine doesn’t work very well or taste very good. Do not stay here
Attached is the video of the floor we were on where the stink came from. Please find yourself another hotel which cares for their guests and provide what they charge for.
The hotels decor is dated and certainly not what I'd expect for a 500 EUR per night room (excl breakfast). The bed was comfortable enough but the bathroom was disappointing. Biggest issue was our floor (1st floor) seemed to have a significant water damage problem resulting in parts of the corridors shut off to public and an awful stagnant water smell. These things happen, but no one at the Westin told us about this issue or apologised.
The real concern with this hotel is the very poor service. The reception team don't seem to follow up on requests which proved to be a significant problem for us. On one occasion we were promised they team would organise a car for us (we spoke with 3 separate people about this request), then in the morning at the time agreed the reception team said, "no cars are available due to a 10km run happening in the areas" - they knew about this event when promising the car. This made us late for our tour in Versailles. The team did not try to help us and were not apologetic. One bell boy event made a joke that "you could try flying" when we asked what we should do.
The icing on this crappy cake came on the final day, when one of our group was asked to pay 200 EUR to move room, despite the fact we had just paid for 4 rooms for 4 nights (~8,000 EUR). This demonstrates (again) that the hotel staff don't care about good service.
Strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
