Palace Hotel Glyfada

Right by the beach and a 20 minute walk from a wide variety of really good restaurants so location is good. The hotel is rated a 4-star but is far from it. It desperately needs maintenance and upgrades to meet the standard of a 4-star. The reception area is cold and unwelcoming. The hotel personnel are dressed in casual clothing with nothing to associate them with the hotel. There is a big massage chair in reception that is so worn, it needs to be thrown away. This gave the impression of a cheap, 2-star trying to impress. This is not something I would expect of a 4-star rated hotel. Our TV remote was broken, the air-conditioning wasn't working but was fixed fairly quickly. Very small bathroom with a door that doesn't open properly because of the placement of the toilet. Tiny shower with a dirty shower curtain. No information card in the rooms with the number to call for reception or details of the restaurant or bar. There are signs for a rooftop bar but this was closed with no signs of it ever opening.
A plus is that the beds are comfortable and a good size.
We used the glasses in the rooms and left them out to be changed/cleaned. These weren't changed or cleaned for 4 days!
The fridge wasn't cold.
Water is given out at all restaurants in Greece but no waters were in the room, even on first arrival. We stayed at another 4-star hotel for 1 night and had water bottles in our room.
The hotel is quite run down and desperately needs upgrades and maintenance.

The people working at the hotel are very nice, kind and offer a good service: The bathrooms need to be upgraded. It is between uncomfortable and not safe.

Beyond that, I believe that the hotel is a good option (value for money) if you are looking for a hotel with a pool (want to stay with kids, etc) and have the time to take transport to another beach.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. You should consider it more as a 3 star. If so you won’t be disappointed.
The pictures are real but retouched, lots of areas of the hotel have not been renovated in a long time.
The pool is not the cleanest and the street is quite noisy.

This is certainly not a four star hotel so please do not come here expecting that. I would give it 3 at an absolute maximum. The hotel and town is kind of deserted. Within a 10 minutes walk there is only a Shell station, hot dog stand and one seafood restaurant in the local marina. It seems it might have previously been a vibrant property but the owners changed during Covid and now the rooftop restaurant is closed and the lobby/indoor restaurant and bar are completely empty. I think everyone comes here for the pool and beach. The pool is not nearly as nice as in the pictures, and at a maximum there are 4 sun loungers (these were all occupied when I got there). You will have to pay €10 euros for a towel. The bar and restaurant staff were fairly helpful but cocktails/drinks for this area were extremely overpriced (approx €9). I would highly recommend staying a bit further south in Glyfada or just making a day trip to the local beach here and staying in Athens. The couple of things that I would complement the hotel on are: while it had very limited amenities, my room was very clean and the staff were quite helpful. Last point - if you get a room that borders the main road, it will sound like there is drag racing going on throughout the night. Very loud street noise even with all windows closed.
