Dishonest and Disrespectful – Worst Hotel Experience

I booked a “Superior Acropolis Room” expecting the stunning views shown on their website (photo attached). Instead, we were given a room facing a wall (also attached). When we raised the issue, the staff claimed the photo was of a suite, only to backtrack after we forced them to check their website.

The manager, unavailable for three days, was eventually reached by phone. His response? He argued that leaning out over the balcony to glimpse the Acropolis from the side counted as an “Acropolis view.” When we asked about the room in the website photo, they lied, claiming it faced the same wall, only to later admit it was on the opposite side of the hotel with a direct view of the Acropolis. Despite this, they refused to move us, insisting all such rooms were booked.

The staff’s dismissive and dishonest behavior made this one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. They repeatedly tried to outsmart us with word games and lies. I strongly advise against staying here to avoid being treated with such blatant disrespect.

The manager eventually offered to “solve” the issue by upgrading us to a suite for an extra €120 per night per room or refunding our money. Unfortunately, with two other rooms booked for elderly grandparents, moving all of us at 6 PM was impossible. We were left with no choice but to endure the lies and disrespect. This was not just disappointing—it was deeply disheartening.

The issue was never about a misunderstanding of the room type description. It was about honesty, transparency, and how you handled our concerns.
"Acropolis view," and refusal to acknowledge the disparity between the advertised photos and reality were incredibly frustrating. To then suggest I “should have spent more time researching the room” is both disrespectful and unprofessional. Guests trust a hotel’s website to accurately represent what they are paying for—this is not a failure on my part but on yours. Furthermore, when the manager offered an “upgrade” to a suite for €120 more per night, this felt less like a solution and more like an attempt to capitalize on our frustration. I stand by my experience and my review. Your unwillingness to acknowledge the legitimate concerns of a paying guest and your efforts to shift blame are truly disappointing. I hope this feedback encourages you to treat future guests with greater honesty and respect.

Had an issue with my card and had to pay via bank transfer. Most of the staff was friendly about it while I waited (which I offered after I was chased down on the street because they wouldn’t take my credit authorisation form unless it came from my managers email directly) but one in particular really made me feel like a criminal while I voluntarily waited HOURS for them to receive less than 400 euros.

Finally I had to leave because I was there on business and I had confirmed with my agency the payment was made. The manager all but blocked the door with his body. I apologised many times (mind you, the room was paid for, they were waiting for the second form of payment to refund the first) and finally had to dash out. Another helpful employee ran with my to chase down my car with my two gigantic bags.

Not sure if I would book here again even though the room was fantastic. Can’t help but feel the animosity and suspicion was mostly fuelled by racial bias.

I received an email 20 minutes after I left that they had received the (second) payment. I don’t think they even apologised.

Our room was ok until we saw hair on the bathroom wall. It seemed like something that would be hard to miss if people truly cleaned the place. We liked the staff there, especially the ones who helped us make reservations for taxi, restaurants, etc. They were always so helpful and kind. Cleanliness is just a big deal to us, so we were a but disappointed. We could hear some noise from the restaurants that are right downstairs by the hotels, but it's not unbearable.
