Reviews
Tucked in a tiny street, surrounded by an abundance of restaurants and coffee houses and antique sellers, we loved our experience here. Joanna and Kostas provided wonderful service-booking cabs, helping us with heavy luggage. We arrived very early from a cruise and were joyfully allowed to check in early and eat breakfast. The restaurant across the street was fabulous for our included breakfasts- very fancy well cooked brunch fare, abundant portions, fresh squeezed O.J., beautiful setting- we enjoyed our terrace and partial view of the Parthenon. Great shower, nice coffee in the room, comfy beds
Breakfast, in particular, was an issue as the restaurant opens at 7:30AM, but the hotel front desk doesn't open till 8AM, the hotel front desk closes around 4PM, and the staff were always at least 10 minutes late, then took another 10 minutes to get ready, and frequently disappeared during the day; so no matter how you slice it there's never a good way to get the vouchers for breakfast unless you don't plan on touring Athens that day (most tourist spots in Athens open ~8AM and it's important to get there ASAP if you want decent pictures) and they only provide you with vouchers for that day, not all of them
Additionally the restaurant is outside. While this was not an issue generally, as there is foliage covering above, one morning there was a continuous rain of bird feathers/fecal matter into the food and drinks and no where to go to avoid it
The pool itself was not heated (which was not an issue for us), despite it claiming to be, but the ambient temperature of the pool room was very warm
Room turn-down service was reliable
Note that you need to book pool and sauna hour window ahead of time to use it.
Upon finally entering our room, we found a large cockroach and later discovered ants all over the floor. We messaged the hotel and called twice—no response. With no assistance, we were forced to sleep in that room, and my friend was bitten by ants.
We left early for a tour and didn’t reach anyone until after 7 AM, when someone finally answered and apologized. When we requested to change rooms, another staff member downplayed the issue and suggested it had already been resolved—which it hadn't. The roach was still there, and ants were on the bed and bathroom floor. Only then were we moved.
Later, we messaged to ask about the pool. The response said it was open until 10 PM, with no mention of needing an appointment. When we arrived, the same staff member shouted that we couldn’t use it without a reservation and claimed someone booked it 20 minutes prior—this was never communicated, and it felt dishonest. She then escorted us out and claimed all of this had been explained during check-in, which absolutely did not happen.
Currently staying at this hotel and our experience has been incredibly disappointing from the start.
Overall, the experience has been frustrating and unacceptable. The customer service is poor, communication is unclear, and the attitude from some staff has made a bad situation worse. This hotel needs serious improvement in professionalism, cleanliness, and responsiveness
Our room (room 04) was located right next to the reception and main entrance (literally 3 feet from the door) so you could hear everyone coming and going and every conversation in the reception, including the staff from the spa who would sit on a sofa a few feet away from our room door and chat; so not great in that respect.
Next, the AC is controlled remotely by management.
This is not explained but rather when you arrive the room is hot inside and the control panel for the AC displays the message "HL" which after googling means hardware lock. Upon asking the reception, they explained they would "come and take a look".
Next, it is miraculously working but went off again less than an hour later so we had to ask again. From reading other reviews, this seems to be a tactic they use to save electricity. Not great.
Our last negative was that the fridge light started flicking during the first night, lighting up the room like a strobe light. From reading other reviews this isn't the first time this has happened. The receptionist said that she would get a technician to look at it but ultimately it was not fixed throughout the remaining two days of our stay.
Positives: the hotel is ideally located. Close to the city center and surprisingly not too noisy despite being near to several loud restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly despite comms being poor with regards to the AC controls and getting the fridge fixed.
The room itself was fairly small but modern and comfortable.
