Mare Boutique Hotel

Very disappointing stay. Arriving at 3 am and being sent here instead of Mare Blue Apartments.The sea view was stuck up lots of stairs snd viewed the dustbins.
Staff were as someone else said snd very contradictory. One was very aggressive and said that after check out if you wanted a shower I would have to go to another complex.He was also very rude snd said I would only know if I could pay to have the room longer 1 hour before.
Another nice member did sort it out for me at a cost of 10 euros per hour.
Imagine my surprise when I popped back and a woman called penny had stuck a note on the door and deactivated my key card so I couldn't get out. It caused undue stress and upset.
I should have been having a room upgrade but it was always tomorrow which never happened and I wanted to unpack so I gave up.
The food is repetitive and never hot , I believe its delivered and not prepared on site. This place should never be a 4* , that's a joke. Its more a 2 *
Swimming pool us very small, I never saw anyone in it , but was told there are cracks.
Only having 5 or 6 sun beds is ridiculous
The barman snd restaurant staff are lovely.
Other than this, give it a wide berth.
Love Holidays need to take some ownership for the problems.

I stayed at this hotel a week ago. Regardless of the details, I was expecting much more from a 4-star hotel, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment.
The photos do not match reality — there is no private beach for the hotel, and we had to go to another hotel to sit by the sea.
The reception staff seemed inexperienced, often contradicting themselves and constantly having to consult the management about everything.
As for the food and drinks, they were acceptable — not of high quality, but not bad either, just average.
On the positive side, the staff were extremely friendly and always smiling. There was a handsome young man working in the service department who was very respectful and provided excellent service.
Overall, it was a nice vacation, but not quite what I had expected.

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The complex consists of several “Mare” hotels, which only creates confusion and a lack of clear information. For example, one evening there was supposed to be a DJ, but nobody could tell us in which building. The same happened with a meeting with the Apollo representative – reception informed me it would take place at the front desk, but in reality it was held in a restaurant 10 minutes away. Very frustrating.

Reception staff often gave contradictory information – one day they would say one thing, the next day something completely different.

The biggest disappointment, however, was the food and drinks. Meals were of very poor quality and far from fresh or tasty. Several times we experienced stomach issues afterwards. The drinks were equally bad and hardly resembled real cocktails. The food comes from a catering company. It looks like they barely make any food from scratch by them self.

On the positive side, the beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. The provided sunbeds, however, were located on a more rocky part of the beach, about 3 minutes away, so we barely used them.

There are also unexpected extra charges: €3 per day for the safe, €10 deposit for towels (we ended up buying our own), and a €10 local tax that we were not informed about prior to arrival.

On the day of departure received information that we can use all inclusive after check-out and keep our wristbands until the airport transfer in the evening. Some days before checkout, another person said they gonna take them at 11 o clock. I think that is just stupid when we arrived the first day at 1 o clock at night and didn’t use any all inclusive that day. Thankfully it worked out, we got food last day, but it just shows a lack of consistency between the stuff.

Overall, apart from the nice beach, our stay was disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel if you value good food, clear communication, and a stress-free holiday.

Really disappointed by my experience at this hotel. The property isn’t suited to being an all-inclusive (see below for why).

The good: location - this is what you’re paying for, as it’s on the beach; housekeeping staff - room cleanliness was great, and digital signage to show whether you’d like room cleaned or not; broken toilet was fixed on the same evening (early in my stay, I’m now shocked this was fixed so fast)

The bad: city tax was only accepted in cash (€7 per night); food - very samey, not cooked on site, not labelled (very few dishes named, never mind info on allergens); restaurant and bar areas are very small; accessibility - no lifts on any part of the property and restaurant is upstairs; uncomfortable mattress; and, as reported in many other reviews, the neighbouring chicken farm is so noisy; soft drinks are dreadful, and bottled water is only provided free of charge upon arrival, room fridge is not restocked during daily cleaning

Overall, I get the impression that the owners have bought several properties and are trying to do luxury on the cheap. What would work better - for their margins and the layout of this property - would be to run it as bed and breakfast (with PROPER breakfast - fresh eggs your way, full size pastries etc) plus option to buy drinks package or pay as you go

Tips: take a water bottle (bar staff happily refilled mine); get the public bus to Chania (hotel charges €26; public bus is €4.70 each way)

I booked a double room with balcony/terrace garden view for 3 nights. When I arrived at Mare Blue Suites, I was informed I had no room where I booked (Mare Blue Suites) and was placed at the Mare Boutique Hotel under duress. The room I ended up with was a single room next to the restaurant, I had to keep the blinds closed because staff and customers could see straight into the room and my balcony view was of a wall.
I immediately informed the member of staff that I wasn't happy and wanted to speak to the customer liaison manager who informed me they had no room at Mare Blue Suites that night and that there would be a room available in the morning. This cat and mouse chase with the customer liaison manager continued for the next 2 nights with the promise of being moved. No one came to my aide to even try and sort things out and I was back and forth to both receptions at both hotels pleading to be moved. It was a very disappointing experience, and the customer liaison manager clearly became irritated by my instance on being moved. On the second day I was shown the outside of the room they said they were willing to move me to which they described as a downgrade and still wouldn't have been the room I booked. They made no attempt to move me or show me the inside of this room.
There is a huge difference between the double room with garden view at the Mare Blue Suites and the single room at Mare Boutique Hotel. A couple from the Mare Blue Suites allowed me to video the double room they were staying in for me to compare with the room I ended up in, so I'm well aware I was cheated and taken advantage of as a solo female customer.
I am absolutely disgusted with their total dishonesty. I've given them 2 stars because most staff were... 'polite'. It's a shame as the hotel has great potential in a fantastic location. The risk is you may not get what you booked and they treat you ungraciously to add insult to injury. If you're willing to take the gamble go for it, who knows what you'll end up with. Just to add, there are many hotels on this stretch, do your research you may have find somewhere better.
