2. Cleanliness

In no particular order, these are the top qualities, this hotel has. I booked a 1 night stay on Christmas eve and I was really surprised because for what I have paid (very economical) given it is holiday season, it was beyond expectation. The breakfast was abundant and had lots of options, plus the staff were really accomodating and hospitable. I Will stay again if in Florence.
I had an unexpected health issue during my stay at the hotel, and I cannot thank Barbara at the front desk enough for her kindness and professionalism. She went above and beyond to ensure I received the help I needed, arranging for a private doctor to visit me in my room and even organizing the pickup of my medication from a local pharmacy.
Her genuine care and swift action made an incredibly stressful situation so much easier to handle. Barbara is truly a credit to the hotel, and her dedication to guest well-being deserves special recognition.
Rooms were found in dated, narrow corridors showing some age and separated into different wings. Inside the rooms, everything seemed to be in good order and clean and newer than the corridors. My single room was a bit small for a 4⭐️hotel. Acoustics were bad and I could hear comings and goings the whole night.
Safe, kettle, coffee fixings and mini fridge with complimentary still and sparkling water welcomed guests to the room with enough space to hang clothes.
Location was good to see the major sights in Florence. It’s a 15 minute walk or about 2500 steps to Starbucks, the Florence Cathedral, Baptistry, Piazza Michelangelo, Giotto’s Bell Tower
Now there is lots to see on walking distance. No complaints about the hotel. Was clean and beautiful
However, the room was tiny for 2 people to navigate and the door on my side of the wardrobe was very difficult to open/close. There wasn't much space to put our belongings. There was only 1 open outlet in the entire room so we had to unplug our room's phone to get another outlet. The outlets were far away from the bed so I often slept with my phone plugged into my portable battery, instead. The bathroom had a nice layout so we each got to have 1 side of the sink. There was an extra shelf for storage and a shelf inside the shower. The bathroom door didn't shut all the way and therefore, didn't lock. The door to enter the room was difficult to close so I would have to push it really hard and triple check it when leaving.
We were only here for 2 nights so we left the DND sign on the door the whole time. However, housekeeping asked us if we wanted fresh towels and took our used ones for us. They were sooooo nice! They always greeted us, too.
Many of our other friends weren't as lucky and had rooms with black mold everywhere. They were able to get transferred to a new room, but were met with an attitude from the staff and it took several different rooms to get one without black mold.
The overall layout of the hotel is super weird and confusing. We had to take an elevator to another floor and switch elevators to get to the bottom floor. On top of being difficult to navigate, the carpet in the hallways is so thick that it's difficult to wheel luggage on.
The breakfast is standard, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. They didn't have carafes of water so I had to use the juice machine, but filling my water bottle took too long so I often just used water from the bathroom sink.
