Reviews
I booked the Marriott in Rome expecting a smooth, professional experience — but unfortunately, it was disappointing from start to finish.
• Breakfast confusion & extra charges: I booked breakfast, but it didn’t appear on my booking. They charged me €15 per person, plus an extra tax fee that isn’t standard everywhere. It felt frustrating and avoidable.
• Poor housekeeping: During our entire stay, the cleaning staff didn’t provide hand towels, a bath mat, or daily water bottles. Shampoo was never refilled, and when I asked for conditioner, they placed a large bottle in the room instead of simply refilling the dispenser.
• Slow service: I requested a sewing kit for a missing button. After two calls and over an hour of waiting, it was finally delivered.
• Security lapse: The worst part — after cleaning, they left my friend’s door wide open. She had her passport and money inside. When we reported it, they said they’d check the cameras but never followed up.
Overall, this stay was far below Marriott’s usual standard. Between the extra charges, sloppy cleaning, slow service, and major security oversight, I will not be booking Marriott again in Rome.
The hotel is surprisingly large and functions as a convention hotel.
The room was very large with a balcony (see photos). Well maintained and smells great. (Room 6045.... great room!)
For Bonvoy members, they have an executive lounge, which is open 24 hours a day. 5-7 pm, they offer "happy hour" with free wines and beers. There are plenty of food choices.
In all, certainly not your typical airport hotel
The rooms were comfortable.
The staff was very friendly.
This hotel is showing some signs of its age but I really enjoyed my stay here.
The ambiance is outdated and worn, with decor that seems stuck in the 90s. The rooms are even worse than they appear online; the wallpapers were peeling, the air conditioning barely functioned, and the whole place had a musty smell. It’s clear that the rooms haven’t seen proper maintenance in years.
To top it off, the parking is a strange 1-2 minute walk from the hotel, which isn’t ideal, but the worst part? No one ever picks up the phone. We tried calling guest services, room service, and the operator—no response. In case of an emergency, you’re completely on your own.
I would never willingly stay here again and absolutely cannot recommend this hotel. It’s a disgrace to the Marriott name.
Also they charged me two nights and sent the wrong receipts when I stayed only 1 night. I’m waiting for them to fix it still. They have one job!!
Room was mediocre and breakfast, fake eggs. Pretty standard for the rest.
