Stayed for 5 nights. Staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Good location, close walk to Vatican and city centre. Quiet atmosphere and good breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. Will definitely rebook when returning to Rome.

Great location on a quiet side street near St. Peter’s Square. You can see the dome from the hotel. Staff was helpful. Breakfast service has many options of food and beverages. Onsite bar. Rooms were clean, well appointed and comfortable. Would stay here again.

Ok hotel right near the Vatican. Rooms were serviceable. No hair conditioner so bring your own. TV did not work and they could not get it to work at all. Noise from hallway and rooms above was very loud and woke us up many times. We purchased the breakfast and the food was decent but coffee was the worst I had in Rome. If you want to be near the Vatican this is a great choice but it is far from all the other attractions in Rome. I would not pay extra for a balcony room unless you need to smoke.

I wish we could rate this place higher. The staff were friendly and kind. The breakfast was a great selection and delicious. Our room was easy to find and the cleanest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. It’s not far from the Vatican so it’s very easy to grab a quick bite from the breakfast buffet and beat the big crowds. Can’t recommend this hotel more. We will definitely be coming again when we’re next in Rome.
Only thing to consider when visiting is that it’s near a busy room so you hear a lot of traffic but on an evening is peaceful for the most part.

I booked my stay months in advance coming from US and the day before my stay, I got an email that my reservation had been canceled because they no longer had a room for me??? So they rebooked my stay at a “sister hotel” in Rome - Starhotels Metropole. I didn’t get to see the inside of the Michelangelo hotel but by pictures it was more luxurious than the Metropole location. In addition, I chose this location due to being closer to attractions we were interested in - and the Metropole location had us significantly further.
I’ve never had any hotel ever cancel my reservation like this, especially within days before on an international trip.
The Metropole location additionally gave us only a single bed instead of the double bed that we had booked, so between the inconveniences, they did bring us a bottle of wine as an apology gift.

If you’re looking for a great hotel in Rome that’s close to the Vatican (entrance to St Peter’s Square is only a few blocks away), this is it. Hotel is well appointed in that the rooms, restaurant, lobby and bar were updated and spotless. Entire staff from reception to housekeepers were extremely friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Attallia, Cesar, Fausto and Gabriel whose daily service greatly helped making this a 5-star review.

Overall it is a nice hotel. Avoid staying in room 606. It is extremely small for two people. The bathroom is normal size.
The shower stall has a very slippery floor. Room 606 feels as big as a sleeper wagen on a train.

This hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel. However don’t expect 4 star service. The reception staff is clearly burnt out from dealing with swaths of tour groups which arrive in large buses daily. They do not have time or energy for other guests. Rooms are dated. The location of this hotel means you will be in tourism central. My advice would be to stay farther away from tourist attractions. By far our worst hotel we stayed at in Italy.

Location is good if you're more interested in visiting Vatican City than anything else. Is walkable to other side of the Tiber river to see other places. Maintenance needs a bit of work, but staff are very quick to help and accommodating.

The two of us stayed a total of 17 nights and were very pleased with the service and hotel at Starhotel Michelangelo. All the staff at the reception desk were so helpful throughout our stay and assisted us with all our needs and requests (as we went back and forth from other cities). The hotel is only a quick walk in to the centre of town. Looking forward to staying again when visiting Florence. Highly recommend.
