Hotel Danieli, Venice in Venice

I have never encountered a hotel so petty and small-minded… Four rooms booked for one night. I made the reservation a week in advance at a specific rate, only to arrive and discover that the price had significantly dropped for those booking after (some days before arrival) ! And this isn’t some one-star roadside stop—we’re talking about a so-called five-star hotel charging €1750 per night, yet employing the tactics of a budget chain.

I politely raised the issue with reception. They assured me the manager would call me back after check-in. But by the evening, there was still no news. When I returned later to follow up, a receptionist with a condescending attitude informed me that the manager had called my room, despite the fact that they had my mobile number. I insisted on speaking with the manager, and after initially being told he wasn’t on duty, a miracle occurred: the manager appeared.

He immediately denied the pricing discrepancy, refusing to believe a screenshot of his own website. When I showed him the live price on their site, he simply shrugged and claimed there was nothing he could do.

When I booked, I specifically requested the best available rate for those dates—four rooms in total. I was assured that it was, and mind you, this wasn’t a promise made months ago but barely a week before my arrival! Furthermore, I booked directly with the hotel, without any intermediaries, so when they guaranteed me the best price, it was the hotel itself making that claim. Yet, when the price mysteriously drops, the staff appears baffled that this might be inappropriate, and even more so, that a guest could be upset about it.

I won’t even begin to elaborate on the fact that the hotel is outdated, and nowhere near worth the exorbitant rates they charge. I strongly recommend you avoid staying at this hotel!
They juste don t understand what hospitality means !

I just wanted to inform you that this hotel is a world-class haven for dust mites.
It truly feels like a natural reserve for them, with its very old couches and carpeted flooring.
The pricing is nowhere near justified—it's far too expensive, and the staff is exceptionally rude.
We also heard rumors suggesting that the word "refurbishment" is considered offensive and should not be uttered within the hotel.
It seems management suffers from a "refurbishment phobia" and has no intention of undertaking any work on the hotel for the next five centuries...

My wife and I have stayed many time at this hotel. The standards have declined significantly. Last I checker hospitality is about a warm welcome.
Traditionally the concierge staff at this hotel were excellent. They even organized a photo shoot with Micro Tifollo and made our stay pleasant.
Today my wife and I who just wanted to show my in laws the hotel. We were followed by the security guard who made us feel completely uncomfortable. We informed the front desk staff who were pleasant but his behavior continued and was simply unacceptably intimidating.
I feel the friendliness of this hotel has declined and I’d recommend the other boutique five star establishments or otherwise the Gritti Palace or Aman.
Never again will I use this hotel if the new management is this poor.
