Motel One-Chopin in Warsaw

We booked a room at this hotel for several nights and were expecting a pleasant stay – unfortunately, it was the complete opposite.

From the moment we entered the room, there was a strong, unpleasant smell that made it hard to breathe and made the stay very uncomfortable. We asked the reception to change our room, but they refused and did not offer any real solution to the problem.

On top of that, even though it is below zero degrees outside, we were given a very thin blanket that is absolutely not suitable for this kind of weather. When we asked to change it for a proper duvet for a couple, we received a single-sized duvet, even though we are two people. One of us basically had to sleep without proper coverage.

The most disappointing part was the attitude of the management:
When we asked to speak with the manager, he refused to talk to us in person and told us to send an email instead. Instead of dealing with guests who are physically in the hotel and clearly unhappy, we were pushed aside and told to write an email.

Overall, the experience was very disappointing:

A room with a bad, suffocating smell

No willingness to change the room

Inadequate bedding for freezing temperatures (thin blanket and a single duvet for two people)

Unhelpful and unprofessional attitude from the manager

We did not expect this level of service from a hotel that presents itself as a comfortable and welcoming place.

​We chose Motel One based on good reviews, but our experience was a nightmare of filth and terrible service.
​Our first room (Room 1004) had a sewage smell and hairs on the shower wall upon arrival. Later that night, we found the bed covered in disgusting body hairs from a previous guest (the bed was untouched by us).
​We were moved to a second room which, unbelievably, ALSO HAD HAIRS on the bed!
​We finally got a clean room (our third room of the night, Room 1020) past 12:30 AM, ruining our entire evening and separating me from my family (Rooms 1005 & 1006).
​The worst part: When I complained about the unhygienic conditions in two rooms, the management refused responsibility and actually tried to BLAME US for the hairs! They claimed too much time passed. This is an unbelievable level of accountability failure.
​TWO unhygienic rooms in a row is unacceptable. When confronted with filth, management's response was to lie and shift blame. Do NOT waste your money here. The hygiene and accountability are non-existent.

I had a great experience staying at Motel One in Vienna, so I decided to book Motel One for my stay in Warsaw as well. Unfortunately, Motel One Warsaw was a big disappointment.

The bed was small, and essential amenities were lacking. There was no medical kit available at reception, and the bathroom only had soap—no shower kit. There was no phone in the room, so to contact reception, I had to go downstairs. Additionally, there were no extra blankets or pillows in the room, no refrigerator or minibar, and no water, tea, or glasses.

Moreover, they didn’t provide bathrobes or disposable slippers, which are often standard in many hotels. The room felt bare, with just a bed and not much else provided by the hotel.

To make things worse, the cleaning service was very minimal—they only changed the towels but didn’t actually clean the room.

It seems there is no security at the hotel, anyone can enter freely. I saw a group of people who didn’t look like hotel guests come in and scatter across the floors.

My colleague, who accompanied me on the trip, was severely bitten by bedbugs throughout her stay at the hotel!

Overall, my stay at Motel One Warsaw was a major letdown, especially when compared to my positive experience in Vienna.
