Holiday Inn Express Singapore Katong, an IHG Hotel

Hotel room is basic and comfortable. The staff here is very friendly and quick to address any requests within their ability. :)

The reason for three-star rating is simply the lack of functioning laundry facility. There are three washers and three dryers only for the entire hotel. During my 2.5-week stay, the machines have multiple service issues which prevented convenient use between all of the travelers needing laundry service.

It appeared that the maintenance team were working hard to maintain the outdated equipment, but constantly had machines turned off and useless.

To make matters worse, it appears the cleaning staff may also be using these machines for cleaning some room linens - see photo.

Overall the hotel is pleasant and comfortable. If not for the malfunctioning laundry facility it would be higher rating.

Still very good hotel for short-term trips if laundry is not a requirement.

Alternately you can use the hotel’s laundry service. The cost is slightly higher than nearby laundry business, but at least there is an option.

Recommendation to the Hotel:
Update laundry facility with current model equipment and consider to providing sufficient units for meeting the demand of your projected customer numbers.

The hotel is great when things run smoothly, unfortunately, I had an incident that could be stressful for some.

I had an issue where my door lock was broken (no battery) and I had a meeting to attend to in an hour or so. The technician promised that he’ll be back shortly to “grab his laptop”, but he did not appear for 30 odd minutes, while I stood there waiting. I had to go down to the front desk and tell them that it’s unacceptable. It was resolved 5 minutes (by the front desk staff) after my complaint at the front desk, which made me wonder why the technician was not able to “grab his laptop” in that same amount of time. He did not even appear after he left me to grab his laptop.

The staff apart from the hotel technician was great, friendly and helpful. They even comp-ed my Grab ride to my meeting as an apology for the inconvenience.

I’d particularly like to commend the housekeeper (Ivy) on my floor, she’s such a sweet person and would go out of her way to help me, especially when she saw me waiting in front of the hotel door for the technician.
