Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (if I could give zero stars, I would)
I’m not one to leave negative reviews, but my experience at Grand 5 Hotel & Plaza in Sukhumvit, Bangkok was so bad that I felt compelled to warn others.
1. Confusing Lobby & Unwelcoming Receptionist
First impression? The lobby was confusing, and there was zero online info to guide us. The receptionist didn’t greet us with a simple “Hi” or “Hello.” Instead, he gave us a rude hand gesture like we were bothering him. The male receptionist had such a grumpy attitude, as if we were getting a free stay. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. On the other hand, the bell boy was decent and helpful.
2. Terrible Odor
Walking down the corridor, I could smell the strong scent of weed and cigarette smoke. It was overwhelming to the point that I nearly fainted. Upon entering the room, the smell got worse. My wife and I were holding our noses—it was that bad. We could hear every single conversation happening in the hallway and neighboring rooms, which was incredibly disturbing.
3. Dirty Room & Mouldy Bathroom
To make things worse, the bathroom sink was full of mold, and the bath towels looked like they hadn’t been changed in decades—filthy and worn out. The room felt absolutely disgusting, and we couldn’t wait to leave.
4. Disastrous Breakfast
The next morning, we decided to try breakfast, and I honestly regretted it. The food was inedible, and I almost vomited. I’ve never seen a worse breakfast at any hotel.
5. Worst Stay Ever
This was our last night in Bangkok, and it was completely ruined by this nightmare of a hotel. I had chosen this hotel based on positive reviews, but I now regret it. This place doesn’t deserve even a 1-star rating, let alone 4 stars. The hotel is dirty, the staff is rude, and the overall experience was absolutely terrible.
I strongly urge anyone looking to stay in Bangkok to avoid this hotel at all costs. There are countless better options in the city. This was hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
To the authorities: Please look into this hotel’s compliance with 4-star standards. Guests come to enjoy their time, not to endure a nightmare.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, with the Nana BTS station just a short walk away, making it super convenient for local travel and sightseeing.
If you’re looking for a hotel that’s not only good and affordable but also perfectly located for exploring Bangkok, I highly recommend staying here.
Room old, broken shower couldn’t tune water temperature
The hotel is modern(ish) and cheap(ish) for what it is. Admittedly, I have found nicer hotels for cheaper, however those are definitely gems. This is a high quality cheap hotel, is what I am trying to say.
This is a solid hotel and I would recommend it for the right price. Photo is view from my hotel out onto the street, seeing the BTS train.
