Reviews
Next to Hollywood walk of fame
TAO is right next to Hotel
1. The shower head is sometimes too cold and sometimes too hot, which is difficult to operate
2. There is no table in the king-size bed room, and the sink and the bed are separated by a curtain
3. No water is provided, and you can only go to the first floor to get water with a plastic cup
Advantages:
1. You can drink about 80ml of small champagne when you check in
2. The rooftop swimming pool is pretty good, and there are lounge chairs, but the swimming pool is only for viewing and not for real swimming
3. The location is relatively good, turn left and turn left again to reach the Avenue of Stars
Others are normal, comparable to domestic 3-star hotels (all American hotels are like this)
- No luggage racks in room.
- Limited outlets to charge devices.
- Odd shower location that is basically near the bedroom, not in the bathroom.
- Sink in bathroom had no counter space.
- Very loud music from rooftop and street below til about 2-3AM.
Definitely not a great place to bring kids in my opinion but decent for a friends trip where you aren’t spending much time in the room I suppose. I will most likely stay elsewhere next time after a couple nights here.
I was traveling for business and had got to the hotel very late and left for my flight very early the next morning. I was at the hotel for a sum total of 6 hours. First off, at check in, the front desk refused to provide any information about nearby parking that isn't their valet service (I was even told, "we're not allowed to tell guests about outside parking services"). I understand wanting to promote your own services, and it is certainly convenient, but very odd to refuse to provide helpful information to your guests and not at all the mindset a customer-service industry should have. Secondly, a few days after my visit, I found a mysterious charge on my credit card to which I have received no email or bill about. When I inquired, customer service said I was charged for the minibar. When I assured them that I hadn't used the minibar, that I was there for 6 hours and 5.75 of them I was sleeping, they just forwarded me their inventory receipt and said "here's what you used". When I again stated I didn't use anything from the minibar and to please refund the charge, they went radio silent and I have been unable to contact anyone.
Also interesting that in all the other comments reporting mysterious and fraudulent charges, the owner replies and says "sorry, we'll make a note of this for future guests" but still does nothing to resolve the issue for the guest with the complaint that was scammed in the first place. And interesting how they'll "make a note of it for future guests", yet this issue keeps happening. This hotel is a total scam, dishonest, and they'll find any way they can to pinch money from you. DO NOT STAY HERE.
I thought the reviews were exaggerating about the all-night parties on the rooftop bar, but I stayed there on a Wednesday, and the music was thumping all the way through 2am! Right after that, all I could hear was traffic and fire engines, so I barely slept the entire night.
The room was also terribly designed. The blackout curtains didn’t work, so I could see the city lights. The walls were very thin, so I could hear people returning from their parties. There were also minimal bath amenities in the room.
I don’t quite understand why people rave about the breakfast. It was decent, but nothing impressive. The steak and eggs were really good. Unfortunately my appetite was ruined by the restaurant’s reminder to me that it’s primarily a party hall, with gum stuck to my table and staring at me as I savored my steak (see photo).
There were only two things worth complimenting:
- I appreciated that the hotel proactively upgraded me to a suite as a Globalist without me asking. Though to be honest the suite was still tiny compared to other Hyatt hotels.
- The gym had an impressive range of equipment despite its small size.
Stay here but ate at the rooftop restaurant. But talked to many people who did stay here and they said that the rooms were awesome. The rooftop pool and restaurant are even better and the people were even better. Location is perfect with the view at the top from the pool of the Hollywood sign, including great cocktails. The people were amazing.
