the room is on the smaller side but more than enough for a solo traveller. the bed is super comfortable, probably the most comfortable hotel bed i've ever slept in. everything is clean and there is air conditioning. right next to the river and close to the old town and cathedral.

First of all, it’s a great location — not too crowded, close to the train station, and just a short walk to the river, the Chocolate Museum, and the canal.

Lyskirchen Köln is such a good choice even the locals and traveling Germans recommend it. The location is 5-7 minutes away from the Chocolate Museum and roughly 15 minutes from the cathedral and central station. You can easily walk to the restaurants (including a nice Thai place called Krua Thai) and bars and reach the Roman museum and Hohenzollern bridge without much effort. The rooms at Lyskirchen are comfortable but don't expect the typical extras associated with 4-star hotels. I was grateful for the swimming pool, which was spacious enough that kids don't bother you when you do short laps (most will be disappointed with the gym though). I highly recommend doing the online check-in because the front desk will tell you to perform it there anyway. Lyskirchen Köln has these really nice eco-friendly keycards too. The breakfast is typical intercontinental and limited (so if it's not included with the room the 25 euros isn't worth it). Overall, the hotel is still an excellent choice for a brief stop at Köln.

It wasn’t the best experience for several reasons. First of all, the room lacked some small but important details — for example, there was no kettle. Secondly, the cleanliness was not up to standard; there was noticeable dirt, especially in the bathroom. Towels are not changed daily (the room is cleaned only every three days), which is quite surprising for a four-star hotel — it’s the first time we’ve encountered this. Additionally, the reception staff was not very informative and didn’t provide any explanations.

A nice little hotel in a great location that stands out from the anonymous hotel blocks nearby. Small but nice room with a beautifully designed bathroom. Everything clean and as good as new. Highly recommended.

Rooms are little bit small! The pool and sauna are amazing! The gym tightly small! The staff are super friendly! A big thanks for them! The breakfast was good! Has a variety of food to choose from!

The hotel was really clean and modern and fitted out nicely with great sized rooms, excellent bathrooms and a lovely pool. The only thing that took away from our experience was that our safe stopped working completely trapping our belongings into it. The staff did not know what to do and this took a while to resolve. It was understandable that this could happen but one staff member was not as accommodating, empathetic, reassuring or understanding as we would have expected and this tarnished our trip, caused us to miss our dinner plans, and made us feel less secure in the hotel.
I would stay again but would ask for the hotel to train staff on better customer service and empathy if people have wallets, watches, jewellery and passports trapped in the safe. Also on how to fix this issue if it happens. And make sure they are replacing the batteries in all the safes regularly and having the right tools nearby to resolve it.

Very nice hotel, price is good. The room was clear and confortable. Breakfast was excellent and all the employes were concerned about the customer experience.
