Hotel Daniel

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, and while the location was very central and convenient, the overall experience was not so good. The reception staff were nice and friendly, which was a positive start, but the facilities and rooms were extremely outdated and had an unpleasant smell. Upon entering my room, I spent about 10 minutes just figuring out how to turn on the lights. There was one main switch that controls all the other lights, but only if the individual light switches are also turned on – unfortunately, they weren’t, and it took a while to figure this out.

My room was on the 6th floor, and it wasn’t very soundproof. I could hear other guests being quite loud. Cleanliness was another major issue. The bed sheets had stains (see picture), and there were visible stains on the walls, curtains, mirrors, and other surfaces. It didn’t feel clean or well-maintained at all. Upon arrival, I noticed a paper bag on the bed with a note saying that if I didn’t want cleaning service, I could hang the bag on my door to be rewarded with a surprise. Since I was only staying for two nights, I didn’t need cleaning and hung the bag as instructed on the first morning. However, when I returned later that day, the bag was gone, and the room had been cleaned anyway, which was disappointing and unexpected.

Overall, this isn’t a great place to stay, but it might be okay for one or two nights if you prioritize location over comfort. The staff were friendly, but the outdated facilities, cleanliness issues, and lack of soundproofing made it an underwhelming experience. I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer stay.

My wife and I had an incredible experience at your hotel, the only possible star I will give is for the very helpful gentleman at the reception who was desperate about the situation and tried to help us.

But the way you as the manager handled it is second to none, I guess the other reviews below all point to that.

You either turn everything against the customers and let them know that everything is fine with you. This is not the path to success.

Thank goodness that at that time the room we were assigned did not have heating, because that was already a signal to go to the staff to get the heating working, but unfortunately it was not possible until the morning. We were offered direct heaters. We agreed. On returning to the room, the cockroaches appeared. I don't even want to know what would have followed if my wife and I had gone to sleep normally and this disease carrier had bitten us. The gentleman who must be the Manager would reply that we brought the bugs! I think I know what I'm packing in my suitcase. Unbelievable. It's a good thing we weren't without the kids, but my wife's afraid of bugs anyway.

So I immediately clean up the hallway and get the hell out of the hotel.

We were allowed to, although the bad weather made the transfer drag on for 1,5h, but what could we do.

The hotel is close to Karlsplatz and Marienplatz and the Rathaus. However, i had an issue with my keycard during my stay and there is no night reception so i was locked out of the hotel. I was forced to get another hotel for the night which was very disappointing. Also the hotel is above a club so on Saturday nights your room will smell of cigarettes from the club goers. Also the hotel seems dated and smells like an nursing home and the bathroom fixtures were falling apart. Overall the experience was pretty bad. I would not recommend staying here again.

The worst hotel I’ve stayed in my life. The room was dirty on arrival and the bathroom door literally fell off when it was open. Twice. We after the second time they agreed to come and fix it. The first time they said “try and not open it too quickly”. Don’t stay here if you have a choice.
