Hotel Schlicker

Good location. Close to metro station. Friendly staff at check in and out. Clean and nice rooms. Comfortable bed. Horrible sewer smell in the bathroom. Seemed to be getting worse when we turned on light/fan in the bathroom. Kept this off and used the bathroom in darkness. Disappointing breakfast. Very busy and difficult to find a table. Could potentially have been managed by a staff member organising a bit. Staff didn’t have good overview of new guests arriving and it took a long time before we were offered coffee. No labels on food served for breakfast. Worrying with respect to allergies. I had to guess the flavour of which yoghurt I wanted. We dined out for the breakfast the second day.

Hotel Schlicker offers exceptional service as well as modern, quiet and comfortable rooms. We stayed two nights in August 2024. The hotel is in the heart of the city just steps from Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt/beer garden. If you want to hear bells at 7 AM leave the windows open - or close them and put on the AC to have quiet. We were in the Maisonette which was plenty of room for three adults. Modern updated bathroom with bidet and large soaking tub as well as double sinks and shower. Breakfast is a highlight with traditional Bavarian cuisine of Weistwurst, cheeses, deli meats, juices, fruit plus American options e.g. scrambled eggs, yogurts, smoothies etc. Staff at desk, breakfast and outside were all very friendly and accommodating. Used the hotel bikes for an AM ride in the English Garden. Limited parking on-site which you need to reserve in advance. This is my second visit to this hotel (2011) and I highly recommend it.

Overall our experience was good at this hotel. However, we did have to change rooms due to a horrible sewer smell coming from the bathroom. It took about an hour but we finally were able to change rooms. Breakfast was good and had a lot of options. Service was good. We loved the location of this hotel as it was right in the old part of the city.

Beautiful little hotel right in the heart of the old town. Largest free buffet breakfast I’ve ever seen. Easily reached on foot in about 20 minutes from the train station or by underground and then a 3 minute walk. Wonderful staff. Very friendly.

Hotel Schlicker was a great place to stay! When we arrived the elevator was broken, but the staff brought our luggage up to our room. We faced the street and loved the view! The location can't be beat either. Breakfast is buffet style, but unlike other hotels, the staff in the breakfast room was constantly working to refill the stations, bring coffee/tea, clear tables, etc.
The room we booked, facing the street, was on the smaller side. However, it was perfectly fine for the 6 nights we stayed, especially as we didn't spend much time in the room.
Overall we had a great stay, and would come back again!

A superbly located hotel with a very nice service. Comfortable beds. Tasty breakfasts in the atmospheric dining room - special thanks to the breakfast staff. Possibility to leave luggage before check-in and after check-out. ♥️👍

The hotel staff was lovely and the location stellar. Our room was small but well kept. The breakfast was lovely. The downside to our room was that we were facing the street and it was noisy. If we had known that it was a noisy room we would have booked a different room. Otherwise, it is a nice pension, not fancy but great for a short stay.

The hotel feels as a 4 star! For me it's strange it has only 3 stars.
- Located right in the old city center, the hotel has a
pleasant traditional and warm atmosphere.
- Friendly and professional staff. Especially the night
receptionists who helped us a lot.
- Own parking (you better check the availability and
parking lots' size in advance)
- Very clean rooms. Many people said they are too
small, but I disagree (I've seen smaller). There are
plenty of space for two people.
- Great heating system. We had an open window the
whole night and it was still warm in the room. And with
a backyard view it was pretty quiet.
- Decent breakfast with lots of options. You can even
order a lactose free coffee.
- Teapot and shoehorn in the room!

Better book via the website rather than via Booking - it’s cheaper.

Overall, our experience was positive. Staff were universally helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were really good and staff again attentive and quick to bring excellent coffee ( with cream !). The room was fairly basic for the price but now understand Munich is an expensive city and the central Altstadt location adds to the cost. We enjoyed our stay and thank all staff for making us comfortable and welcome.

The room was super nice and clean. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The breakfast was a DREAM! It left nothing to be desired!
The only very small minus point is that I found the mattress a bit hard.
But apart from that, everything was very satisfactory and we will definitely be back!
