Hotel Be Live Sapoa is situated close to the island of Saona, close (500 m) from the Eastern National Park and just 24 km from the beautiful themed village of Altos de Chavon. On site there is everything for a good rest. Can safely recommend to any category of tourists: couples, families with children, active.

Location: in the South-East of the Dominican Republic, 23 km from the international airport La Romana, in a 1H 15 minute drive from the international airport of Punta Cana, at 1 hour 30 minutes drive from the capital city Santo Domingo, on the first line of the beach.
Consists of 3-storey villas surrounded by gardens.

1. Biggest issue is the SMOKING. Per customer service, smoking is permitted in all open area. Which means almost everywhere. I have asthma and smoking makes it hard for me to breathe and throat gets itchy. The majority of the guests are smokers and the minority like myself are non-smokers. Feels like the smokers are catered to more as you have to find areas you are not exposed, or speak up and ask guests to move when they decide to come to your area. The resort should create one area where those who smoke can go. This is a family resort with many kids. Everyone is exposed to second hand smoke. For this reason, I will not return or recommend. Only If the resort makes stricter rules with smoking will I return.
2. Unable to get a lounger in the beach or pool unless you go at 5-6am. The workers tries to help but all chairs have hotel towels and the waters are empty. People hold them and leave.
3. Only 3 restaurants so the wait is long. You are lucky if they give you a beeper to notify you when your table is ready. No beeper and you are not on the list. Last night I went at 6:30pm, got a beeper and wasn’t called until 8pm. During that time the line is long with 50-60 people waiting to get to the hostess. Resort needs faster service. Your entire night is waiting to get into a restaurant. That means you miss the shows and entertainment.
Those are my top 3. Because the staff is pleasant I don’t leave before. But after I check out, it would not see me again.
The facility was a bit under staffed but the staff was great. if you needed or wanted a drink at the pool it was 1 guy for to many for the kid to handle.
Bring water shoes is suggested the beach is great /the rocks can be a bit much in some spots. The room refrigerator was stocked at all times.
I would go bk again but I would treat it more like a hotel than an all inclusive because the food was gross....so bad .
We made an instant connection. He is the most confident, reliable, friendly and caring person. He responded to all our requests with great smile and enthusiasm.

Overall, I think this is a 3* hotel, not really 5*. Our stay has been pleasant as we did not look for luxury, but there are a couple of things worth calling out:
Positives:
[++] The resort is big with many cool amenities (multiple restaurants / snack bar / buffet). You won't be bored even if you don't leave the hotel at all.
[++] Buffet food is solid, with lots of options and good quality. There's also the option to book the Japanese / Mexican / Brazilian restaurant for dinner.
[++] The superior deluxe room is spacious and clean, although it could benefit from renovation.
Areas of improvement:
[--] Some staff will try tricking you to sign up for a free VIP breakfast, but it's a scam to attend a 1hr presentation about travel deals. We declined it, and they kept insisting. Bad customer experience. Save yourself some time and don't fall for this.
[--] The beach is a bit rocky, so either stick to the pool or bring swimming shoes. The pool is really good.
[--] At check-in, we were told that we had to pay for a safe. I think it's better to include this in the price than announce it as a surprise.
Don't let them fool you. I feel so sorry to the experience that had happened to me. Hotel staff was offering me their "very special membership", and they were talking so sweet about their "Alive Prime club". I paid ridiculously high amount of money for their membership to stay at the hotel in the future for "free". However when I tried to use my membership, I find out there are many fees that have never been communicated, and can't be found in the contract. The fees are so high (approx. 190$/night per couple) that it makes no sense to use this fake "membership", because I can go to any travel website and pay half of this price without being a member for the same stay. So they took my money, and and don't want to refund it, and don't want to provide the service I paid. There is a guy called Junior, and he is very pushy and all he cares is to take money from your pocket. Stay away and be safe. There are many beautiful places where you will not be scammed.
