Viru Backpackers in Tallinn

Could be a little bit more aesthetic, but it was cheap. The instructions were also a bit unclear and we embarrassed ourselves few times. Location was excellent, surrounded by all the Finnish karaokes. Perkele.

great location. clean. empty whenever was there. showers had a bad smell. perfect location.

Good sides:
From the hostel, you can go to the old town square in only one minutes. The location is centeric.
You can self check-in without contacting anyone.
There is a kitchen and there are many different facilities for cooking in the kitchen.
The toilets are clean.

Bad sides:
The walls were very thin, I was able to hear other people easily even though my door was closed.
Check-in is done after 3 pm, so you have to wander in the city with your bag/luggage until 3 pm.
The toilets and washstands are in different places.

The hostel is extremely central to the point that you get envious looks when you leave. Being a hostel you have to share bathroom and toilet facilities. But both were clean. One of the showers on my side, I'm not sure if there were more, was rather small, and in neither of the two could you put the shower up on the wall. I never had to wait for a shower or the toilet. The bed was comfortable. I had a room by the front door, but it didn't disturb me, even though you have to take your shoes off when entering. My room was very quiet, but I did hear a family complaining about the noise on the other side.

À very excellently located perfect value for money hostel. Me & my friend stayed over the weekend and we had 2 separate room for each of us one with bathroom attached (3rd floor) and other with shared bathroom (5th floor) . Everything was fine , rooms were good sized , bathrooms clean. Staff co-ordibated well online & clear instructions. Staff was available all the time just a ping away . Location so good that we can walk to Viru mall in 4 mins & also to the other big mall Stockmann further ahead 5 min. On other side of the hostel starts the old town , not even a minute walk . Excellent bakeries cafes restaurant & also shopping & great tourist attractions buildings in walking distance of 5-10 mins . Even the famous balti market is 15 mins on foot . If you go on short trip & want to explore lot this is the best place. Hostel has many suggestions for to do things listed on its black board in the central hall at reception & other kitchen facilities if you want to cook a small meal or make tea coffee . I found this place very convenient & great value for the money .

I had a good experience at Viru Backpackers. The contactless check-in worked without problem. On the day of my arrival, I received the code and instructions via Whatsapp. I had booked a solo room with shared bathroom. The room was pretty nice, there was enough space and a small mirror which I appreciated. Just outside my room there was a shower with a sink. And then, in the same hallway, there was a toilet. But this room for the toilet is really super tiny, it only fits the toilet and the person. For the sink to wash your hands, you must go to the shower room. The architecture is a bit confusing but probably not their fault. Also it is not soundproof so you can hear very well what other people talk in the rooms nearby or in the living room. Thankfully the place seemed very calm and no one was talking. But then I decided not to have any phone calls with family/friends in order not to disturb others. If you plan to work from there, probably it is not the best idea. But internet works very well. I did not use the kitchen but it seemed well equipped and I saw one person cooking. The location is really very good.

I had a nice room overlooking the street of old town. The room was really big and had a very comfortable bed and gorgeous big windows. The common bathrooms and showers were clean every time I used them. The hostel was on the third floor, so dragging your bags up those flights of stairs can be challenging. If you have a disability where you need an elevator, while there is one in the building, you would still need to go down two flights of stairs in order to get to the hostel. But it’s a beautiful hostel and I would definitely stay again.

Definitely a place to go. Receptionist are awesome. they have free coffe and basically very welcoming. Travelers will enjoy their stay in Tallinn at Viru. would do it again 10/10.

This was the best hostel I stayed in during a month of travel around the region. It was clean, well located, the beds were comfortable and the sheets were new and fresh, and the staff was helpful. Best of all for me is that it's not a party hostel like so many others in the city were. This is a calmer place for those who seek that out like I do. The breakfast in the morning and free tea/coffee at all hours was a great bonus. They also can sign you up for day trips to nearby national parks or tours of the city, and they're cheaper than you'd find with any of the regular touring agencies. I can't recommend them enough - stay here! I will be back if I return to Tallinn.

At home comfortable, the staff helpful, the Breakfast pancakes)) the Location of all super - in the heart of the old town. Suitable for individual tourists, families with children and companies. No Parking.
