Boutique hotel located above a restaurant. Unique room designs. Wonderful staff. You have to enter the hotel through the restaurant which is the only confusing thing about the entry. Not all rooms are "senior" friendly with steps leading to the bathroom; safe is low to the ground. Overall, very enjoyable stay, just let them know you are a senior. Great location - minutes walk to all the sites.

We had a room on the first floor, which came out to the restaurant. So in the evening it's a bit loud in the room.

The 1890 was the perfect stay for our honeymoon in Athens. Attentive staff, central location and the private spa was an excellent way to unwind after a busy day's exploring. Would happily stay again.

We are a married couple 37 and 38, travelling with no kids. We are non smokers and non drinkers. It is our 10th anniversary travel trip.

Lovely location nearby to public transport, as well as being nearby walking distance to pretty much most of Athens historical sites.

We stayed in the loft room which was very lovely. Only complaints would be the fridge is not cold enough, the shower seems to wet the whole toilet area no matter what you do.

Has an outdoor jacuzzi that is nice to chill in, however there is no 'view' off the balcony aside from the other top floor room guests balcony and an alleyway.

The service was lovely for the most part, however we took a towel to the islands one day, and upon our return in the evening we were questioned by the reception staff asking why we took a towel. We explained we did not know we could not borrow a towel for the beach... we were then punished by not replacing our towels while we were away. I returned the two towels we took to the beach and requested a replacement, to which they replaced later in the evening.

The breakfast was included in our package, and when we went out too early to be able to attend the (8 or 830am) start downstairs they would provide a breakfast package the night before consisting of breads and jams and yoghurt which was nice.

We had dinner at the restaurant and found the food to be amazing, much better than the breakfasts included.

Nice place overall, great location, mostly nice staff, Jacuzzi nice but too much chlorine burns your eyes.

Unfortunately we were unable to keep our booking due to a huge delay of our ferry. But although the staff was very friendly and helpful. So we are going to book again for next year and we are looking foreward to our next stay at Athens 1890 Hotel in 2025.

I will write another rezension after our stay ;)

The room was clean and chic. The jacuzzi was also very nice. The service was excellent and even though we didn't book spa they gave us 30min after shift end, which we really appreciated! They helped us with our questions and the breakfast was also very nice! We will definitely book a room again and use the spa. Thank you!

The room is very cute. They provide you nice breakfast and if you leave early, they will pack breakfast for you.. location is not very good .. because I would prefer acropolis view hotels..

The staff could not be more wonderful. All are warm, friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They are a true credit to this beautiful hotel which is in a great location and only a short walk to some of the best spots in Athens. I didn't want to leave!

The hotel is situated in a really good location. However you can tell this by the price I’m not sure if for what you get it’s really worth the money I don’t think I’d say Karen in the same room that I was in last time.

The breakfast here was not great. There wasn’t much of a selection and what there was was fairly plain. The coffee at breakfast was pretty awful as was the orange juice.

The room that we selected was meant to be a slightly bigger room, however, what was actually bigger in the room was the corridor, so it wasn’t worth spending more for the bigger room, we weren’t told online that when we were going to get a bigger room that all that would be bigger was corridor, so this was quite disappointing. The shower and toilet is crammed into the corner of the room, in it’s own separate room. The balcony was overlooking a pretty horrendous view at the back of the building, the balcony didn’t have any chairs. There was only one chair within the room itself.

The spa was really nice. The staff are really friendly down there. I didn’t like that we were staying for five days and only got half an hour free. It would be better off to book it individually per day so you’ve got several lots of half an hour sessions, although it was worth paying a little bit extra for another half an hour on top this is because they had lots of nice facilities such as a big pool, sauna, steam room and a nice shower.

I would not stay here again. I think I would look somewhere else to stay in the same area as the area is nice just I think the hotel could be improved on.

We stayed here for 4 nights/5 days on our trip to Athens. When we got here the hotel let us check into our room early which was much appreciated after many hours of travel. We requested a quiet room which we were granted. We booked a classic Athenian room, which we thought would be spacious from the online advertising. It seems that much of the floor space advertised online was hallway which was slightly disappointing. The room was labelled to have a balcony, however we had more of a French door style design with a very small balcony, not enough to stand in. The room was very modern which was great, however it could have done with some more storage space, perhaps a wardrobe, so we could put our clothes away rather than the small low down drawers which were offered. The bathroom needed a door on the shower, as after a shower you had to dry the bathroom floor which was slightly annoying. The air conditioning was helpful however it was not very powerful, you had to have it on virtually all the time otherwise it would be in affective. The bed’s legs blended into the floor which made it invisible and easy to kick with feet which was a slight design issue. However our room was very quiet and we were not interrupted by other guests or outside noise. The cleaners when refreshing the room were very thorough, going the extra mile to tidy your belongings up, which was very appreciated. For example, folding clothes, putting away toiletries etc. One of our days the cleaners didn’t get round to refreshing our room I assume it was a busy check in day so they were only able too around 4PM, which was when we were back from our day out, which wasn’t ideal, however it is hard to get around on busy check in/out days. The hotel breakfast was not fantastic, it was quite basic, however the food offered was quite tasty, I can recommend the sunny side eggs and the cornflakes with yogurt and honey. The spa access was limited to 25 minutes, which was not very long, and felt some what unfair as we were staying for 4 nights. However you are able to stay for longer sessions, we booked an extra half an hour for €30 each, or it was €45 for an extra hour. When we went to the spa, we were very kindly greeted by the hostess, who was very professional and kind. When we were down there we understood why it was limited time, as the area was not large, it was an intimate experience for two guests. The facilities on offer were maintained to a very high standard. The sauna and steam room were very hot. The experience shower was great for after the steam room, and the salt pool was very relaxing, especially with the jets and water features. There was massage facilities available, which we would have made use of if we had realised were available. The hotel is perfectly located, within walking distance to all the manhood historical sites in Athens. I would consider coming here again if we visited Athens again. Before arriving the hotel staff were very responsive on booking.com to any queries we had, which was very appreciated. Overall we had a very good stay here at the Athens 1890 boutique hotel and spa. The staff were very friendly and even though we paid a high price to stay, we were offered a luxury experience with fantastic service.
