SanSal Boutique Hotel

Stylish hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. Location was great, positioned in-between the fabulous Old Town and the very decent Nea Chora beach. The rooftop pool area was also good. Always plenty of seats and loungers available plus wonderful views of the sea and Chania. The breakfast was excellent particularly given the size of the hotel. Plenty of hot and cold options with eggs cooked to order.
We splashed out (forgive the pun) on the private pool room but unfortunately we found the pool area grubby on arrival and it stayed that way until the last day of our 7 night stay when it somehow flooded. For info, the private pool area is East facing ,and on the 2nd floor, so it only benefits from sun for about 2 hours per day around midday, not ideal for sunbathing. There’s also plenty of construction noise during the day from the hotel currently being built next door.
The hotel rooms come with the now ubiquitous glass walled bathrooms which I find are never overly private. Anyway, they came with a spacious walk-in shower. Water pressure from the rain head was pretty poor and the temperature was fairly variable. Weirdly, the water pressure from the hand shower attachment and sink tap were both pressure washer like!
But overall, a good quality hotel in an outstanding city. But the private pool was a real letdown for us. Hence the lowish score.
