Doria Grand Hotel

No warm welcome here.Staff all standoffish. Check in quite smooth. For the price paid I didn't expect to find a broken drop down cupboard door which obviously hadn't been reported by housekeeping. As I had no wish to be blamed for this and the fact that it was dangerous as it wouldn't close, I went down and asked reception to send someone up to look at it. After 30 minutes I went down again and this time the guy on reception came up. He tried to fix it but failed and said that he had nobody available until the morning. When I pointed out that this was dangerous and one of us could fall over it in the night, he mumbled something anout finding a screwdriver, but never did! The fixed shower head in the bathroom is do close to the wall it is practically impossible to stand under it. On the plus side, the bathrobes were excellent.Breakfast was a disaster! The spread was good but the layout in the small area meant that getting to items was practically impossible without pushing your way through. The orange juice was from a machine and resembled coloured water. When staying in a 4 star hotel I do expect a little service but no, you got your coffee and tea yourself from a machine. I chose the coffee with milk which was awful, so I got a capoccino, which I can truly say was the worst on our whole trip. To sum up, dont waste your money - go somewhere where you are valued as a customer and above all where your safety is king!

Well located hotel however breakfast area is crowded and the panel of food is very limited and poor quality.

Furthermore the ceiling of our bathroom was leaking heavily but nothing has been done to compensate and no other room was provided.

Rooms are also poorly isolated.

Overall nice rooms and decent location. Our hair dryer didn’t work, our AC didn’t work, and only one elevator was in service. Uncomfortable sleep for those reasons and if you were just trying to get to the lobby it took a long time. Getting into your room you have to ram the door, too. We also kept the do not disturb on our door when we left for the day, but housekeeping came in and cleaned anyways. They had to move our stuff to different spots in the room because we had left a mess thinking leaving the sign on the door was enough for them to not enter our room. We had valuables out as well since we weren’t expecting housekeeping. The kicker was when we asked to add another night to our reservation upon arrival and the staff said we had to book online. We did, but accidentally booked for the night after we needed the room. When we asked to change once we realized the mistake, they said they couldn’t change it and said we need to go online again to try and book the night we needed, losing out on the money for our reservation the following night. They were booked out online and said they couldn’t help us. We had to rush to find another room somewhere else in the city and it made for a very stressful and tiring experience. Why does a 4 star hotel only use online booking and can’t make any changes on accommodations on their own end? Seems lazy and makes no sense.
