Grand Hotel Vesuvio

The hotel reminded me of an old colonial hotel such as the Rock Hotel in Gibraltar. Considering numerous stars such as Sofia livLoren, The Great Caruso and Ricky Martin had stayed there, I was disappointed with the security of the rooms and paparazzi cameras behind the light fittings. I couldn't imagine how the royal family would cope with their life scrutinized and being filmed by paparazzi. The bathroom and giant size bath and marble tops were beautiful, along with the 300 count egyptian cotton sheets and fluffy thick white towels. The photos in the foyer of all the stars and royalty who had stayed in the hotel, near the grand piano were magnificent along with the views of the castle. I stayed before the refurbishment and removal of the bathtub and some of the room carpets did smell a bit damp during the winter months. The coffee and breakfast buffet was continental, but the coffee was good quality. About a 10 minute taxi ride to the Eat, Pray Love Pizzeria.
