Hotel Nautilus in Rome

I read through some of the reviews and I review this with the caveat that this is a very European/Italian-style hotel. It's not an American hotel. If you're an American expecting a Holiday Inn where you drive up and there's a suite with 70 pillows and a full sized fridge, this ain't it. Did you come to Europe for an American experience? A lot of hotels in Rome are like this one, on the floor of a building. The room I was in was immaculately clean and comfortable. I visited in October, so I had no need of things like AC. I left the bathroom window cracked and closed the bathroom door and the room was a perfect temperature. The breakfast was likewise NOT a full American breakfast. It was an Italian-style, which is might lighter than we're used to: pastries and coffee. Simple, elegant, Italian, like the people. I like it, but I also am as my Italian husband says "half Italian." I think it's about expectations. I loved this place and the owner was very kind despite me butchering his language. He let me leave my luggage while I ran around the city.

Luggage storage is the key we decide to choose staying this hotel. Everything was fine, nothing looked bad, but not underexpected

The only trouble we had was no signage in foyer to tell us what floor hotel was located on.

We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. I would definitely be back.

Location is key with this hotel. This hotel was perfect for a sightseeing trip to Rome. Its location is perfect and allows for easy access to many of the most popular tourist destinations in the city at an affordable price. It is also close to the launching off point for many day trips leaving Rome. This is not a hotel for someone who is expecting to spend several hours in the hotel relaxing. The rooms were clean, if a little dated. My only real complaint about the room is that the beds were a little uncomfortable, feeling more like cots than true twin beds. The breakfast got the job done, but it should have started a little earlier. Beating the crowds to local spots such as the Vatican is a great way to see the sites, and it is a shame that we had to leave before was breakfast was served several days to do that. However, for anyone getting a start later than 7:30-8, this will not be a problem. The staff were quite kind and friendly, and they made great recommendations on places to eat. While this did not impact us, it is important for people to know that this hotel is on the second floor. There is an elevator, but it is quite tiny and may pose a challenge for some. We did not have any problems with the wifi while there.

Good location, 5 minutes from the metro line A stop (Lepanto station) and 5 minutes from the Vatican.
Spacious and clean rooms.
Extremely friendly staff

Extremely polite staff, beautiful rooms. 10 minutes of walk from Vatican City. Highly recommend.
