Reviews
Pros: Large format rooms with space to unpack. Superior Room bed size is excellent. Daily Housekeeping. Good location. Simple but decent breakfast if included in your room rate. Staff were friendly. Internet was reliable. 7/11 across the road.
Cons: Decor and Rooms are very dated. Airconditioning can be noisy when cycling. Bathrooms are basic. Restaurant no longer accepts credit cards.
If you are happy to trade Modern, for Space + Value, then The Malaysia is good for a short stay. For longer stays (7 days +), other properties may be more appealing.
The Room: I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. The king-sized bed was exceptionally comfortable with high-quality linens, ensuring a restful sleep. The room was well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a large flat-screen TV with international channels, and excellent, reliable Wi-Fi. The air conditioning was efficient and quiet.
Facilities and Amenities: The resort boasts two stunning swimming pools, both immaculately maintained and surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Loungers were plentiful, and fresh towels were readily available. I especially enjoyed the tranquility of the smaller, lagoon-style pool tucked away in a quieter part of the resort. The on-site spa offered a range of traditional Thai massages and other treatments, which were both relaxing and rejuvenating. I indulged in a Thai massage, and the therapists were highly skilled. The hotel also has a well-equipped fitness center, although I didn't have the chance to use it during my stay.
Dining: The restaurant has a wide array of both Western and Thai food.
Service: The service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk to the housekeeping and restaurant staff, was friendly, attentive, and eager to assist. They were always smiling and willing to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay.
Whether you're looking for a peaceful getaway or a base to explore Bangkok, I would highly recommend this hotel. I will certainly be considering the Malaysia hotel for any future trips to Bangkok.
Secure and welcoming environment with excellent domestic service at all times.
Bathrooms could do with upgrading but perfectly adequate.
Not situated in Silom or Sukhamvit but that's why I stay here, lol.
I’ve stayed at the Malaysia over the years many many times, but this was the first time I had been back in 10 years. It was a big surprise and refreshing to see that some of the staff was still there Which is testament to good management. The only thing I would suggest is make sure that one Booking you ask for a proper mattress otherwise you might get one of those Asian style thin gymnastic type mattresses which don’t lend themselves to a good night sleep.
After I change rooms and got a proper mattress I realise that you get what you pay for and for the price you couldn’t expect much more. However I was really glad to get to my more expensive and more luxury hotel after staying at the Malaysia. Maybe that’s one of the benefits you’ll appreciate Other hotels even more once you’ve stayed there.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Malaysia Hotel is, without a doubt, the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in.
Rooms: Dingy, outdated, and reeking of mold. The beds are rock-hard, with stained mattresses that look like they haven’t been changed in decades. The walls are paper-thin, so you hear every possible noise, making sleep impossible.
Ambience: If you enjoy the feeling of being trapped in a horror movie, this is the place for you. Dim lighting, peeling paint, and an overall sense of decay make for an utterly depressing stay.
Cleanliness: Or rather, the complete lack of it. The entire property is filthy. Dust, grime, and god-knows-what else cover every surface. The pool? A green, murky swamp with moss-covered steps—dipping your toe in would probably result in an infection.
Staff: Rude, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to guests' needs. If you dare to complain, expect eye-rolls and dismissive responses. Customer service is non-existent.
Mosquitoes: Everywhere. This place is a breeding ground for them. Get ready to be eaten alive day and night.
The worst experience imaginable. Do yourself a favor - sleep on a park bench before even considering this dump.
