Taksim Square Hotel

first and last time that i went to this hotel, it was our first experience and many time we went to Istanbul to different hotels but this hotel was awful. the reception promised to give us better room but they don't the worst part was one day during our trip in the morning we went to restaurant and the woman was so so rude her name is (cemere) shouted at us and talked so badly for picking up a slice of cake and bring it to our room. we told this bad behavior to a man in reception. it was our last time going to this hotel in Istanbul , i hope manager take the right action for this issue.

I am staying at Intercontinental, IST. But on my way back to the hotel after a long day of IST day tour - I needed to use the restroom urgently. I went to Taksim sq hotel and at the reception met- IHAAB
He was absolutely unwelcoming and unkind. I asked if I could use the restroom- to which he replied that only the rooms have restrooms.
I wonder how he helps himself when in need. Because of his rude tone- I asked if the manager is around to which he said- he himself is the manager! SO much for the first impression of the manager as the first face of the hotel at the reception.
I’m sure there must be a set protocol but it’s how you treat people - which is the whole idea of the service industry. Hoping he understands and treats others kindly.

And mind you - the hotel next door Marmara were so welcoming

I’m going to keep this simple because I don’t like writing reviews, but I think this will help future travelers. I’m American and if I’m ranking this based on Star ratings in America, this is a 2.5 star hotel at best. Overall, in Turkey, 4 star for Americans is 5 star in Turkey. So book accordingly when traveling here. This is rated 4 star on google maps. I don’t agree. Staff was very friendly. But the room was tired and dirty and the decor needs to be updated. May work for some. But, my standards are different and we ended up leaving and staying 2 doors down at the Sofitel, which is what I consider 4 star if we were in America.

The location of the property is excellent; however, the cleanliness was not up to standard. The aisles had an unpleasant odor, and the air conditioning was inconsistent at times. Although I stayed on a non-smoking floor, there was a noticeable smell of smoke. Additionally, the reception repeatedly contacted me to ask about my departure, despite my having paid for a full day’s stay and informing them that I might leave early. In general, the place looks old and poorly maintained. Given the high price, these shortcomings were particularly disappointing, as one could find a more comfortable and better-maintained property for the same or even lower cost.

The air condition was not working and they didn’t know how to fix it. when it rains the rain come inside my room. the terrtible experience at the breakfast, all the waiters and waitress are watching as if they want you to finish eating or you will feel that they will come to you and say stop eating. especially a blondie short waitress so rude and they have a bad smell, my baby was holding a little croissant while leaving the breakfast she shout you are not allowed to eat it outside the breakfast area so unprofessional.
