TRAVEL via Jet2
Both the journey to/from the resort hotel were fine. It was quite a drive from Heraklion Airport - about 1.5hrs and late at night this is tiring. The 2hr flight delay on return is down to French ATC.
HOTEL
Common areas: Dated decor throughout.
This is NOT a hotel for those with any mobility issues. Lots of steps. Lots of slopes. Lots of trip hazards.
Room: unwelcoming, boring, bland and very small (too much furniture).
Bathroom needed up date. Very small shower with awkward access.
Balcony effectively unuseable due to the heat outlet from A/C raising the temperature beyond comfortable.
FOOD:
Excellent given the large numbers catered for. Reasonable variety.
POOL:
We used the smallest of 3 pools. Early arrival ensured a sun bed (several were broken)
Nice clean, cold pool but a few sharp tiles needing replacement. Also, metal plates in the ground poolside become dangerously hot in the sun and can burn ones feet.
No life guard.
STAFF
The greatest asset of this hotel are the excellent, friendly, efficient staff working in all areas - main bar, main restaurant and the porters in particular.
Unfortunately the housekeeping dept did not keep up the work ethic of other departments...
ENTERTAINMENT
Cretan Night was, apart from the excellent BBQ, a disappointment.
The 'entertainment' consisted of rather repetitive Greek dancing, the highlight of which was to lift women from the audience one by one onto a table, say 'yammas!' (chhers!) and lift them down again...
OVER ALL RATING
Just better than 3* thanks to the staff and food so it scrapes a 4*
WOULD I RETURN?
No, and many we spoke to would not return either.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay at the Miramare Hotel in Antalya. The experience was well-rounded, with a mix of relaxation, activities, and great food.
The hotel offers a decent-sized outdoor pool as well as an indoor pool, both of which were clean and well-maintained. The sunbeds were particularly comfortable, and the private sandy beach was a major highlight. There’s a volleyball court on the beach, and water sports are conveniently located right next to it, adding an extra layer of fun and variety.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and included a balcony, which was a nice touch. However, the beds could use some improvement—I woke up with back pain most mornings, which was disappointing given how well everything else was maintained.
The entertainment team kept the atmosphere lively with daily events like darts, volleyball, and water aerobics. For those looking for more structured sports, the hotel has a small aqua park with three fun slides, two tennis courts, and a multi-purpose sports court equipped with football goals and a basketball hoop.
Dining was a major highlight. The hotel has three à la carte restaurants, all of which served exceptional food. The main restaurant offered a wide variety of dishes from different cuisines, and everything I tried was top-notch. Special mention goes to the churros from the bar near the beach—they were absolutely incredible.
There’s also a well-equipped playroom featuring a huge TV, table tennis, and a pool table, which was a great addition for some downtime.
While the hotel isn’t huge, that actually worked in its favor. Everything is within easy reach, and the layout is both convenient and aesthetically pleasing.
In summary, Miramare Hotel delivers a great all-inclusive experience with a lot to offer in terms of food, entertainment, and relaxation. With some minor improvements—especially with the beds—it could easily be rated even higher.
Resturant great, staff friendly and helpful, plenty of choice on food and desserts and fruit. Drinks topped up regularly, we were all inclusive plus.
Pool great , only thing i will say a lot of germans at hotel, and it did say not to reserve sun loungers but they did. I had a crutch due to arthritus and times we came to pool and loungers had towels on for hrs but no one using, life gaurd didnt remove towels to offer us a lounger. So husband had to get down early after breakfast to get a lounger.
Hotel could do with improving that especially if they have signs saying dont reserve with towels then do nothing about it.
Poolbar served lovely food during day plus a pattiseri bar with small snacks.
Evening entertainment good live bands some better than others different shows would have bern ni e insteaf of band every night. Day entertainment good especially water arobics each day.
Beach lovely. Outside hotel short walk and there was shops with clothes bags perfumne only one bar. Had to walk much further if you wanted bars and resturants so if you have disability be aware. Temp in begin of june was 35 degrees really hot. Did ask for extended check out on last day as had late night flight but hotel could not accomadate that which was shame, they did have curtosy room but not ideal when a few of you using as only two showers which spoilt our last day as we would have liked to have stayed round pool and swam, so lot of time sitting in hotel.
But saying thayt we would return in may when cooler as it is definately 5 star hotel.
The hotel staff were impeccable, nothing is too much to ask for and they even helped us out when I required a doctor who was based in the hotel already which is fantastic!
The food was absolutely fantastic, the buffet was great each time we went for dinner and the 'cafe del mar ' bar for lunch was a massive highlight!
The hotel facilities are over and above anything we have ever had before!
Overall the best hotel we have ever been too
Unfortunately, my mom and me experienced food poisoning after dining at the hotel's restaurant. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was met with a dismissive and rude attitude, which only added to my frustration.
Thankfully, the guest relations team stepped in and handled the situation much more professionally. They were empathetic, prompt in addressing my concerns, and ensured that my stay ended on a more positive note. I sincerely appreciate their efforts, but the lack of support from the management was disappointing.
In summary, while the hotel has great facilities, the management's attitude needs serious improvement. If it weren't for the helpful guest relations team, my stay would have been much worse.
Starting with the pros : the beach was sandy, water was clear & had no pebbles ; the food was sufficient and met everyone's needs ( healthy, vegan, meat, fried etc. ) ; room cleaning service was lovely ; pool was big enough for everyone ; evening shows were entertaining and cocktails were fine - what you'd expect from a generally well rated turkish hotel.
Territory is not too big, and the supposed 'water park' consists of 3 slides, which was fine with me.
Unfortunately, on the third day of our holiday I ended up getting food poisoning / gastroenteritis and could not keep liquids/solids in my system, which is why i had to spend one day at the hospital, and felt terribly sick for the rest of our trip, so I would advise guests to stay cautious and be mindful of what they eat.
Besides the intestinal intoxication, everything else was perfect. However, it was unfortunate that I could not enjoy this holiday to the fullest.
I'd like to offer an honourable mention to Mr. Ilyas, our charming and handsome server at the Main Restaurant, who made sure we felt cared for. 🤍
The highlight of my experience was the exceptional service provided by one employee in particular, Salim. His genuine care for guests was evident throughout our entire stay. Salim's friendly demeanor and willingness to assist with any request, no matter how small, made me feel valued and well taken care of throughout my stay.
I highly recommend Miramare Beach hotel for anyone seeking a luxurious and attentive hotel experience.
