Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah Marjan Island

Possibly the worst experience I’ve had in an accommodation.

Check In:
Took over an hour (just a regular weekend, no special occasions, or holidays) which makes you wonder is it due to untrained staff or inefficient system. I booked 2 rooms in the same booking confirmation, and they still couldn’t give us rooms next to each other, rather thankfully on the same floor.

Rooms:
After finally getting in the room, AC isn’t working. Front desk and reception aren’t picking up the phone. Room service called the engineering rather than changing the room. After another hour of waiting and nothing resolved I went down again to the front desk and the staff are completely useless including the manager, their response was basically “Calm down, we have no rooms and you must wait for the engineering team to fix it” Finally the engineer showed up without any tools trying to simply turn it on from the button then realised he had to go bring a ladder and some tools (as if they didn’t communicate that when they called him 3 times) he simply just washed the AC filter which didn’t solve the lack of airflow much and he stated that it’s working fine now and that’s how it should be, didn’t even bother to send somebody to clean after he has stepped all around the room and washroom with his safety boots, dusty attire and ladder.

The room itself is decent size but having an unsupported glass top table which doesn’t really fit in a family room as they call it, had to move it to the side to avoid an accident with my son.
The bed sheets had holes, bathroom towels badly worn out & shower mixer isn’t functioning well (random hot and cold without moving it).

The bed that was in the room had a broken wheel so it’s literally shaking around.
There’s some sort of light sensor that keeps flashing randomly throughout the night (other than the fire sensor) so unless you wear a sleep mask it’s quite challenging to fall asleep.

The Facilities:
The facilities couldn’t handle the number of guests, the lifeguard told us there isn’t any beach towels and we should check again later.

Pool water didn’t look clear at all and all floor around the pool is poorly designed so it’s always wet and slippery without anyone wiping it off.

And to add to the horrible experience, around 5 AM the fire alarm went on for couple of mins and woke up everyone. We finally gave up and decided to leave the place, hotel staff couldn’t care less or try to offer any apology.

Fair to say that we had much more enjoyable experiences camping.

Plenty of better accommodations nearby where they actually have better facilities, rooms & much better trained staff/management.

Everything about this hotel is poor. It's old and the management is negligent when a facility like that needs a lot of care.
1) Hotel atmosphere: it smells either bad or weird almost everywhere.
2) Room: we got a 1BR suit. It doesn't really feel like a suit but I guess other rooms are even tinier. We were greeted by 2 bottles of Coca-Cola (what? I never drink this low-quality drink and don't understand why a hotel would consider this a premium experience) in the champagne bucket where all ice was melted and the bottles were just soaking in water.
3) Towels: thin, off-white (washed a million times) and not pleasant to touch.
4) Room noises were everywhere! The AC is so loud it's irritating. You can also hear the water flowing from other guests' toilets. Not to mention that very average music is pounding in your window until midnight.
5) Pools were a joke. It's not pleasant to be there, smells bad. The sunbeds are old and plastic.
6) The view is not picturesque. The hotel is surrounded by construction + it's overlooking the other hotels on the other side of the bay. They light up nicely in the evening though.
Overall, I will avoid this hotel in the future. I would give it 2-3 stars, not 4
