The hotel is lovely the staff are great however we will not be staying here ever again at 2:35am we were woken up to someone trying to break into our room me and my partner were keeping quiet hoping he would leave but then we heard through the door yo i know your in there and tried to open the door people can just walk in and out of this hostel and there is no security at all.
We were so scared that we couldn't sleep.
This hostel needs to update it's security by using the key cards for the lifts and stairs so no one can get upstairs.
We expect a full refund for our stay because your guests should feel safe in the hotel.

The location is great, very close to the central station, and the staff were very nice. However, I got for myself a bed in a female shared room thinking it was going to be a bunk bed, but I got a single bed right next to another, which is not ideal when sleeping with strangers. Also, the room was a bit dirty.

Staff was really kind and helpful, allowed us a very early check in and was very quick.
Location is great and near the station, rooms are basic but good value for short trips.
Overall definitely better than some of the other places in the same area.

Women, be cautious when booking this hotel.
I reserved a female-only dormitory with a capacity for up to 8 women, as the hostel had seemingly good reviews. The hostel is huge and has a high turnover of guests. I arrived at the hostel at night and was placed alone in a large room for 8 women, located very far from everything in the hotel. From the start, I felt very insecure.
After settling in, I went to take a shower. When I exited the bathroom with a towel, a man entered the room. I told him the room was for women only, and he responded that the reception had placed him there. I said it must have been a misunderstanding, and he left the room. I was very scared and felt extremely vulnerable at that moment. Fortunately, nothing happened, but I imagined countless worse scenarios.
I changed clothes and went to the reception to discuss the situation. I openly expressed how unsafe and embarrassed I felt. The receptionists dismissed my concerns, saying it was a mistake, and gave me two drink vouchers. It seemed the hostel has no control over the guests, as they simply placed him in a female dorm without any screening.
They did not make any effort to ensure my safety and treated me as if I were being troublesome. I returned to the reception and insisted they resolve the issue. They ended up moving me to different rooms twice. In the first room, the bed was dirty with blood stains; in the second, there was no room service, and I had to remove all the bedding and clean the area myself. I found this to be extremely unacceptable.
To the hostel receptionists, as women, do better! You should have shown much more empathy in this situation!

Small and cozy! The a&o staff is always super friendly, young, well trained and helpful. They always make sure you are having a good time. Shout out to the bar, which makes the place even cozier, where you have tables and cozy lights to hang out and have some nice drinks. Super easy to make friends as well if you are a solo traveler.

We got towels and our beds were already made when we arrived, the staff was nice and we were able to do the self checking when we arrived. We were a bit early but there was a large common area to wait until checking time. Everything was clean, the rooms are safe

It’s alright if you’re on a budget, not my favourite hostel. There’s always something slightly wrong with my stay in an a&o hostel and I promise myself I’m not gonna stay in another a&o hostel, but they always have availability because they’re huge so when I need to book something quickly I always end up returning. This time I had a really bad allergic reaction to the room but there was no money back guarantee or ability to refund so I was stuck there for three nights. Overall it’s pretty average when it comes to hostels, probably one of the worst ones I’ve stayed it, bonus points for accessibility as there are lifts.

At half the price of most nearby hotels, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure the rooms a small but every thing was clean and worked. One of the best no frills budget hotels I've ever stayed at. Friendly helpful staff.

Had a great stay here, the rooms were decent size (we were in a room with 8 beds) and the beds were comfy. The pillows did suck though. The shower was in a separate room to the toilet, which was awesome for our large group. And there was a hollywood mirror in the actual bedroom room, as well as 2 face mirrors in each of the bathrooms. Good location, a 4 min scooter to the train station/grocery store (or a 15 min walk). The breakfast was next level!! 2 coffee machines, a range of juices, a range of teas, bread for toast, heaps of spreads, cereal, a salad and cold cuts meat bar, fresh pancake machine, warm boiled eggs and fresh (uncut) fruit. The hostel bar was also reasonably priced, which was a nice surprise. And one night they had some tasteful live music on in there too. I would go back for sure. They lost a star for the terrible pillows and also because there were only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers in the whole building. And it was a huge hostel.

Really enjoyed my stay here and appreciated how easy everything was with the check-in machines and the ease of check out too. It’s in a great central location with lots of amenities. The bar and lounge was good with entertainment that varied from night to night and there was also a pool table and table football, the staff were friendly and Oscar was great. My room was clean and modern and it was very quiet at night. Overall 10/10 stay would visit again.
