Reviews
We arrived several hours before check in expecting to need to store our luggage, but were pleasantly surprised to be told our room was ready for us. On check out, we were directed to the storage room and given tokens to lockers where we could store our cases.
We were surprised to find we’d been given a room with two single beds pushed together (with separate duvets) when we’d ordered a double, but the beds were comfy. We also appreciated the blackout curtains given we did a lot of sleeping during daylight hours. Internal and external noise was minimal, though some of the doors in the corridor (not the ones to room but that section off the corridor) do bang if guests don’t close them softly. We didn’t hear any noise from other rooms, I think partly because TVs have been cleverly tucked into the middle of each room so the sound doesn’t bleed through the wall.
Storage space in the room is well planned, though a few more hangers (esp trouser hangers) wouldn’t go amiss. Good placement of lighting and mirrors throughout the room and bathroom and good temperature control in the rooms. Beware there is no fridge in the room.
Bathroom was decently proportioned and well laid out, besides the shower cubicle which is a bit cramped and lacking storage above waist height. A combi shower gel-shampoo is provided but is awful, so remember to bring your own. Storage space outside the shower is ample at least.
We found that the water pressure was so high (normally a good thing) that the shower hose and rail couldn’t manage and at one point our bathroom flooded because the shower head fell from the riser, flipped over and rained over the top of the cubicle. This was far from ideal and took all of our towels to resolve. We were able to get replacements, but reception wouldn’t send them up to the room. We also received zero housekeeping during our stay – presumably because the hours for these staff have been made short and they only passed by while we were sleeping.
The staff we dealt with were all polite, helpful and mostly nice. I appreciated that the reception was staffed 24/7.
All in all, the place is about what you’d expect from a budget hotel and I have no major complaints but do think some of the issues above could be addressed if the hotel wants to make improvements.
Oh and be warned – the ATM outside will charge you $4 per transaction!
There's no clothes iron in the wardrobe, which is unusual for a hotel considering there's space and they're not expensive. There are no milk cartons for tea or coffee, just powdered coffee creamer. There's also no mini-fridge.
The breakfast was okay, there was egg, sausages, cheeses, salami, cereal, and some pastries. Coffee, orange juice, and a tropical juice were also available. More variety of hot food would be good, I know I wouldn't want the same thing every day.
Breakfast was below ground floor.
Really satisfying.
I had a good time, I will return!
