Reviews
This is HHI Express, so there is a touch of "budget hotel" feeling in the service, but otherwise a decent hotel for stay and location is pretty good.
The goods:
- Nice location (close to multiple restaurants, transport options and city center).
- Rooms are good, clean.
- Staff at reception speak fluent English
- Breakfast is quite OK.
- There's a self checkout stall next to reception for quick bite/drink etc.
- You won't find shaving or dental kits readily, but per need, go and collect from reception.
The "could be better" ones:
- There's no room service (so go out there and enjoy the neighborhood).
- There ain't any locker/safe in the rooms.
- The AC is bit weird - perhaps keeping the slanting window open is a better choice.
The BAD:
- I had requested for a possible 30-60 minutes delayed checkout, but Hotel couldn't accommodate - which was unfortunate as checkout time is 12:00, whereas checking in is at 3:00 & I requested checkout at 1:00 (& am a club member). 🤷
From BER Airport it will take you around 25-35 minutes via cab (~€35-65) or may avail public transport (first train, then bus).
Aside from the dangerously stupid layout, our room only got cleaned once in 4 nights (despite repeated promises to clean) and when it was “cleaned” they really just made the beds and didn’t clean the carpets or change out the coffee mugs and supplies, etc.
I will say the beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning was strong, and the bathroom was a good enough size. It was also very quiet in the room. The breakfast was huge with TONS of options and good, long hours of availability.
The neighborhood sucks to walk around (few food options, kind of deserted) but is very central to the rest of the city by public transportation. It was often faster to take the train to another neighborhood to get a meal than walk to the closest appealing place.
All in all, I guess I’m glad we stayed here because it was close to where we needed to be (the Tempodrome) for a big event, and I would recommend it as a very budget friendly option for a good night’s rest. However, there are SO many better neighborhoods in Berlin and I’m sure many hotels where you can actually walk (not climb) around the room. Not the worst place you could end up, just be aware of the challenges.
Room was great, beds were thin. Bathrooms were nice. Breakfast was delicious.
The staff were friendly. Parking is 26 Euro per day for guests.
