Reviews
It has small rooms, but the curtains are good and it was relatively quiet and they have air-conditioning.
The air conditioning made a clicking noise all night. I don't think the beds are full size singles in the twin room and there's no room even for a bedside table (there is approx a 4*6 inch space of shelf).
But the shower is good and hot and there is a TV which has BBC news.
The room only comes with a single pillow. I asked twice for a second pillow and was told I would be given one (after a look of much confusion both times) but it wasn't supplied. They supply clean towels if you want them but they don't seem to hoover while you stay so the floor got gritty from the city streets.
However, the location is spectacularly convenient - right by the central station so connecting to every bit of public transport you could require and maybe 5 minutes walk to the Reichstag. The Cube next to the central station has a "food court" called "food factory" in it which serves some really nice fresh food - not cheap but for the convenience and how nice it was (and being right outside a main station) perfectly reasonably priced. Worth knowing about in case you want somewhere to go for dinner without a walk.
Our only downside was the tech issues. The washer and dryer was down and not fixed the entire ten days we were there; the vending machine was out of order twice (and my credit card, which isn't a TAP credit card - it can only be inserted - was not accepted); and the elevator broke or was down multiple times during our stay (though the staff was very apologetic).
All-in-all, it was a great hotel for our first stay in Berlin/Germany and I would definitely recommend it to others! It felt safe, was clean and comfortable, and the location can't be beat!
In terms of facilities, good kitchen, a bar, vending machines and a dining area. We were told when booking there were washing machines, however when going to use them, they were not working, and when we informed a member of the staff, he was nothing but rude. Shouted at us to use the app (we had already tried using the app several times) in the end he shouted that they must be out of use (without even coming over to help us). When we met some other travellers they also said he was very rude when asking if the water was safe to drink.
The next morning when we left I reported this to another member of the staff and she said lots of people had complained and his name was Axel! As a hostel franchise who values being friendly and welcoming this was not acceptable. I even called up to complain to a manager and got no where, so resorted to leaving this review! Make sure you plan to wash your clothes elsewhere than suffer the wrath of axel!
The room was basic but very clean and due to the door being very sturdy, our belongings felt very secure. We were both surprised at how quiet it was in the room, as it felt quite busy downstairs, we were pleasantly surprised.
We chose to pay for breakfast and this was a very good offering on both days. The bar was pleasant in the evening and we noted there was a guest kitchen available which looked clean and presentable (although we did not use this).
On the second day we stored our cases in the pay lockers, we feel this is a really helpful service and it was 4 euro per locker for 6 hours.
Finally, all staff encountered were friendly and helpful and in terms of location- it was absolutely perfect for the station. The city tourist bus also collects directly outside the hotel, a massive bonus for us, as i had booked this in advance.
Overall, a great experience. The only thing that could have improved this is tea/coffee making facilities in the room, as the price was relatively cheap, this is no reason to not book this hotel.
Located next to Berlin central train station and a 10 minute walk from the Reichstag building.
Rooms were basic but all you need for a city break - Bed, private shower, plug sockets, locked doors, TV. Downstairs reception appeared to be open 24/7. Good reception bar/ restaurant.
Perfect place for someone to stay in Berlin on a budget.
