nhow Berlin

I stayed at the nhow Hotel Berlin with friends for 6 nights around New Year's. While there were some positive aspects, overall, the experience felt quite inconsistent for a 4-star hotel.

The positives:

- The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable.
- Soundproofing between the rooms was good.
- The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

However, there were numerous issues that detracted from the experience:

- Reservation Mix-Up: I had specifically requested two single beds instead of a double bed, but this was not reflected in the room assignment upon arrival.
- Missing Amenities: Basic items in a hotel like bathrobes and slippers were missing from the room, and we were told to order them via room service. Unfortunately, the app didn’t work, and no one at the reception answered the phone despite multiple attempts on different days.
- Light and Noise Issues: While the rooms were soundproofed well from other rooms, we could hear everything happening in the hallway. Additionally, there was a gap under the door, letting light from the corridor into the room at night, which made it impossible to have complete darkness.
- Wellness Area: The wellness area was underwhelming. There was no jacuzzi, only a sauna and a hammam, and the hammam was out of service. The gym locker room lights stopped working after a certain time, and towels were unavailable later in the day.
- Misleading Information: A brochure in the room mentioned that phone chargers were available via room service. However, we were told at the reception that these were no longer provided for free and had to be purchased for €20.

While the hotel wasn’t bad overall, these recurring small issues added up and left us feeling that the service didn’t meet the expectations for a 4-star establishment. It’s a shame because we did enjoy our stay to some extent, but the lack of attention to detail was disappointing.

If I return to Berlin, I won’t rule out staying here again, but I’ll definitely check other options first.

This is a nice location if you want to explore the Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain neighborhoods as well as central Berlin. It's about 10 minute walk from the closest train station. This hotel has a nice property right on the river spree. It's going for a music theme and has very modern decor. Each of the elevators have a different music genre playing and one of them is a rainbow garden. The rooms also have a funky modern design. Our room had a lot of yellows and pinks. Linens are nice quality and the taps had the best water pressure I've experienced in a hotel. Nice quality hair dryer. However some of the service has its quirks. When we checked in, we were confirmed to have breakfast. The first morning we had no problems and found the breakfast excellent. The second morning, we were told we weren't on their printed out list and the staff would need to check the computers. The staff member had us sit off to the side while they helped other guests and we ended up leaving rather than pursuing the issue further. It was embarrassing. House keeping serviced our room the first full day we were there to our surprise. The next day, we left a note and a tip for her but when we returned from the day, the 'do not disturb" sign was on our door and the room and tip/note untouched. Very strange as I know we didn't have that sign up on our door. They also advertised 24/7 room service and the ability to rent a Bluetooth speaker. They said no Bluetooth speakers when we called the front desk and the room service didn't work when we ordered it through their online service. It sat in pending status for the duration of our stay. This was a nice hotel but I don't know if it would be my first choice if I were to return to Berlin.
