Hotel Concorde

The proximity to the station is the greatest positive for this hotel.
It also has a supermarket right in front.
I would only advise staying at this place if you have an early start the next day as the convenience of location is amazing. Sweet on the pillow is a great touch.

Area of improvement
1. Air-conditioning and piping needs to be repaired/renowned.
2. WiFi is pretty unstable
3. Double beds and two singles aren't the same.
4. The shower room door needs to be maintained.
5 paint is peeling off certain parts.
6. Full blackout blinds would be ideal.

Stuff outside the hotel's control
1. Rough sleepers and substance abuse people are always around this area.
2. Sounds from the road and surroundings are a lot so I highly suggest a good set of ear plus an eye mask.

Mildew started to grow in the shower. I wish they keep it clean where it really matters.

The street is loud at night. Keep hearing street people shouting and talking loudly, even with windows closed from third floor. Also lots of ambulance sounds throughout the night. Very annoying. Didn’t know the location so close to red light district and a lot of street people everywhere.

The amenities are okay.

Lamp at desk was broken. Wouldn’t turn on.

Overall, we would stay here again - but 4 stars is a little misleading. Very practical and comfortable, a little tired and dated. The neighborhood is sketchy and you need to be careful and watchful. The location relative to the train station is excellent.

This is a mixed review. The hotel itself was very nice in a great position for the station. After a problem with the door key we were given a room that had obviously been set up for a family with a large double and a sofa bed which still left the room feeling spacious. The large shower and double sink vanity are within the room but partitioned off with floor to ceiling curtains. Lots of toiletries and towels. Tea/coffee facilities in the room and a mini bar fridge ( payable). The staff were very nice and helpful.
The big problem for us was the immediate area. Now, I don't know if there had been some event but the area was crowded with groups of mainly young men. In the few minutes it took to walk to the hotel we passed police searching a number of men, which did rattle us. Due to arriving late we went to walk to a restaurant a few minutes walk away but after passing a number of people who appeared to be on drugs/alcohol and seeing so many groups of men we turned round and went back to the hotel as we did not feel safe. We were only staying one night and left early the next morning and the area seemed much calmer. It's a real shame If the area is like that every night I hope that it isn't as the hotel really was good.

I was severely disappointed. The hotel advertises itself as four-star, meanwhile, in my room, nothing matched this standard. Narrow, uncomfortable bed. No chair, no place to put a suitcase (something that was supposed to serve this purpose is too small even for a medium-sized suitcase), outrageously poor lighting, the room was simply dark with the light on. Breakfast OK at best, but where to four stars? The pluses are the location close to the train station, which I wanted, and the nice Staff. But I will definitely not visit there again.
