Perfect location to access everything in the historic town.
Spa was a nice way to wind down and the facial great. Value for money.
The only comment I would add would be to have the spa open in the morning and during the day.
Unfortunately, our vintage room couldn’t cool below 23°C, even with the AC set to the lowest. As a hot sleeper, I struggled to fall asleep. The horsehair pillow from the pillow menu helped a little.
The spa was underwhelming: the jacuzzi was lukewarm, and the sauna felt more like a home unit – neither were hot enough. Service was okay.
Breakfast was a real treat with both a good selection of hot & cold items. The eggs benedict was really nice, though quality was very inconsistent.
The room was well equipped with a working space, comfortable lounge chairs and a spacious bathroom with a nice tub. We had a nice view of the street from our room.
We did try both the lobby bar and the Restaurant Tchaikovsky. The bar was really nice and the selection of cocktails and wines was great. The restaurant was Michelin recommended, but we found it did not meet expectations for Michelin quality and definitely recommend Rado next door, for better quality and cost. We had the most overcooked halibut I have ever had. Service at the restaurant was generally good, though.
The spa was truly the best part of the stay. Both the massage services and just enjoying a swim, soak and steam really made this stay feel luxurious. The spa was really small, but very beautifully oriented with glass ceilings and fake plants that made it feel like a hidden garden oasis.
Tho, there are some improvements to make in my opinion.
First there is a gap between the lobby decoration and the room decoration. I love authentic old fashion decoration but in the room on that hotel : it’s not a success. The bathroom is not the best part of it. I didn’t like the old picture of naked women. I mean I am a woman and this is not what I like to see while I’m pampering myself! Can be more glamorous and nice.
Breakfast is a disappointment for us. I use to travel everywhere in this category of hotels. And the standards are not here. You need to put some vegetal milk options without asking for it and have only one to offert. Put more vegetarian options. And more options in general I would say. It’s so limited. Yogourts and butter portions must be in a fridge . And small area display is not convenient.
Apart that, the spa is stunning. Bed is comfortable.
