Royal Star Empire Beach Resort in Hurghada

Do not go unless you dont mind mouldy fridges, shower cubicles and faulty electric sockets, aswell as Ants in your bed. Hotel very old fashioned, food disgusting very poor and the same every day, no variety. Best part of the holiday was the beach and staff were very friendly. Definitely needs knocking down and rebuilding. No care for health and safety or infection an prevention control.

Avoid at all cost. Like so many other recent reviews, we thought we had booked the hotel next door, which is the sister company.

Again offered an upgrade, which quite frankly was no better. The room we stayed in was disgustingly filthy. I immediately contacted TUI via the app, which did take some time and waisted a number of days with the manager saying that he had another room or would do a deep clean. No amount of deep cleaning would resolve the issues we faced. I have holidayed so many time even this year alone and this has to be the worst I have ever been put in.

So many steps to get around and my 75 year old mother trying to navigate in the dark. The whole place needs knocking down.

I couldn't believe that you were actually given beer that had just been sat in a box and not refrigerated. I couldn’t find one plate where food was being served that didn’t have a chip or cracks in it. Everything was covered in cling film. First work surfaces.

The staff from the hotel have a name for this particular hotel but I wouldn’t want to repeat it on here.

We eventually moved to Sunny days which is a little further down the road but was clean and much much better.

I have no idea what to start with. Room, terrible...and I mean it. I have been in meny places and never complained but THIS is something from different reality. On the beginning we have to change the room because they didn't prepared it for family 2+2 . We changed and shock! Hot water...sometimes,bathroom not cleaned up, everything is falling apart. Not recommended at all. Even locals have a bad opinion about this hotel. Anyway, good luck if you there.

We arrived at this hotel yesterday, and in short — a complete disaster. Right from the reception, things started going downhill. We were told we had to pay an extra €40 for an “upgraded, most luxurious room” — what they called the “honeymoon suite.”

When we originally booked, the pictures shown were actually from the neighboring hotel, which looks much cleaner and more modern. So we were completely misled and had much higher expectations. They have the same name, except the neighbour does not have “empire” in it.

We booked a double bed but were given two single beds not even pushed together. The room itself was filthy, run-down, and the air conditioning broke down four times within two hours — never properly fixed.

The food was also terrible: no flavor, extremely dry, and clearly not fresh. After complaining for a while, we were moved to a “better” room on the top floor, but it was nearly identical to the first one, and the air conditioning still didn’t work properly.

The staff were very pushy, but under the name of “being helpful”. After four exhausting hours of back-and-forth, asking for things to be fixed, someone coming to help, it still not working, we had no choice but to find a new hotel because the situation was just unacceptable.
Even as we were leaving, the staff kept pressing us to say where we were going and even asked our taxi driver.

All in all, this was an awful experience from start to finish.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the staff were mostly friendly but one of the reception managers was rude beyond belief and this was while we were checking in! Great start to a hotel that is falsely marketed using the photos from the empire beach resort which is a lot nicer but only just scrapes a 2 star hotel. Most of the food is inedible, there is no white wine available at all and there's no ice. The lifts were dangerous to the point of being jammed in the doors if you aren't quick enough, we had to constantly go out for food and if we wanted a cold beer or glass of wine I had to walk to the shop which is about a 5 min walk away, the shop drinks are very cheap so it wasn't that bad but the principle of being cheated with lies in the marketing and inedible food it was a pointless stay. I wouldn't come to this hotel again.

If I can help just one person to save their hard earned money on the Hotel Cholera and book somewhere else, my job is done, I'll start with a positive, there are about 4 staff who are dedicated and honestly try and make a difference, they are polite and hardworking one of those is a manager, I should have known what it would be like when I noticed there was a clock missing from reception and two had stopped, the reception desk was dirty and dusty along with the computer equipment, really grubby looking, the two boys on the desk offered an upgrade for €30 which we declined, they then sent a man to check the room, he returned and stated it wasn't good, so they offered a "free upgrade" if the second room was an upgrade fod knows what the first room was like, I complained as there were lizards in the bathroom, the room was small, dirty and just awful, they then offered a larger room which we took but refused to sign the customer satisfaction form as we were absolutely not satisfied with the room, or the attitude of the reception staff. No water, the fridge was growing its own bacteria I'm surprised it hadn't thrown itself from the filthy balcony in protest, the food was absolutely dreadful, no choice, desserts cleared in minutes and not replenished for other guests. Tables crawling with flies, dirty tables and cloths, chairs wobbly and in poor repair. The chef was smoking round the back of the kitchen, just vile. Pool area, beds covered in dried bird faeces (psittacosis risk) all inclusive does not include any snacks (this is probably lucky) no coffee machine just a hot water geyser and make it yourself. Don't waste your money, the photos on the website are not a true reflection.of the facilities, no free WiFi unless you want to sit in the dismal grubby reception on dirty stained furniture, please look at my photos and make your own judgement - don't waste money on this dive, the Hotel Scab really is a place.

Pictures not give right thing of the hotel, i guess those are very old pictures. Fist they offer room which was terrible and after that they said "give 30€ and you get upgrade", but that better room was only litle bit better for example Air condition not working, cleaning was poor and in the fridge was moldy. Thank god bedliner was clean and food was ok except breakfast that was not exactly in european taste. This hotel is about one or max one and half stars. Balcony view was good.
