Mercure Centre Notre Dame Hotel

Great location, just a short walk from the railway station. The hotel offers wonderful views from the rooftop, complete with a jacuzzi, swimming pool, and a small gym. The breakfasts are delicious with some daily variation, and they offer gluten-free options. The staff is friendly, and the junior suite rooms are incredibly comfortable. The only minor issue was that some of the kitchen staff didn’t speak English, and when I asked for gluten-free bread, I was served two fried eggs instead! 😀 Overall, a fantastic stay, and I would definitely recommend it!

great central location, everything is very easy to reach. The volume at night was also completely fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful, from the manager to the cleaning staff. What stood out was a very young, nice blonde girl from the service on the roof terrace. In general, the roof terrace is the highlight of the hotel; we were there every evening. Overall, a refresh of the hotel would be appropriate

Great hotel. We felt very welcomed by staff, it was our honeymoon and they decorated the room for us and gave us free champagne at the rooftop bar. We found the hotel very clean and comfortable, including the rooftop bar and pool. We booked a classic room, which was well sized and equipped for our stay, with a lovely view of the garden terrace. The bar has reasonably priced drinks, and good snack options (though no meal options). We loved the pool, although it would be great to provide more umbrellas for shade as it was very busy on the weekend, and there were only 4 umbrellas for about 20 deckchairs. Location was fantastic, we arrived via train and it was only a 10 minute walk with our bags, and another 10 minute walk to the tram station which took us to the airport at the end of our stay. Plenty of restaurants and shopping around the hotel.

I would likely stay in this hotel again due to the location and the exceptional service from the staff. The room we were originally assigned was very warm, even after we left the air conditioning going for a few hours to cool down. The hallway was warmer than our room. When we called down to ask for another room due to the temperature, they accommodated this request immediately. The other room was much cooler, but we did notice at night the AC becomes much less cold.

I also noticed that certain complaints in other reviews have been addressed, or perhaps some other guests were mistaken. The pillows were very nice, there was a hairdryer, vanity kit, etc. However, I do have to agree that the beds are very uncomfortable. We have a firm mattress at home, but this felt like sleeping on a board. I hope they invest in thick mattress toppers to fix this issue.

The problem that bothered me the most was the taxi ride that they arranged for us after we checked out. They told us it would be 20 minutes, and because we had the time I didn’t think much of it. When the taxi arrived, it was an unregistered taxi that appeared to be a personal friend of one of the staff members. He had no rates posted in his car, so I asked what the rate would be and he said 40€. The rate for a registered taxi from the airport was 32€. The driver had two cell phones, and he was using both of them for the entire ride which made us feel very unsafe as he was drifting in and out of lanes, and people honked when he didn’t notice the light had turned green.

I hope they make it a policy to only use registered taxis because he could’ve made up any number to charge us when we arrived, and we would’ve had to pay it.

The location of this hotel was perfect for seeing this region. It is close to the train station, and a 15-20 minute walk to the beach. I hope they fix the beds, the air conditioning, and the taxi service because this would’ve been one of my favorite stays without these issues.

Great central location for both tram lines, plus can get tram from/to the airport for a couple of euros. Pleasant roof top bar for relaxing and massive garden area with chairs and loungers lower down. Close to train station for trips to other resorts, Cannes, Monaco, Monte Carlo...
