We booked a family room in this hotel ( at an extra rate). Our room was above the canteen (106) which is the oldest part of the hotel. The bathroom needs a deep clean, it had a very unpleasant smell. I asked one of the cleaning ladies to clean it better but it didn’t help. The bedrooms floor has not been cleaned in a while properly , quite dirty. We had half board, and I can honestly say the food was nice. Our friends stayed in the room in the new building were the reception is, and they had totally different standards. Entertainment was just alright. They got free shampoos, shower gel, we did not. The town itself is poor and has few shops that I would not recommend to shop in. Nothing to do really there and it was boring. Overall experience not good.

So 10 days with friends, booked half board. Bought first round of drinks and quickly upgraded to full board at 40 euro's a day. Room King sized bed and single bed in room. Good mattress, took 2 days to get flatter pillows. Good air con, shower was in main room next to the toilet, not much pressure as expected but clean and modern. No shampoo or gel offered despite leaving the empty mini bottle out. No hooks in the room for wet towels. TV with bbc news, most channels in German. Pools 2 pools, small one for kids and bigger one with varied depth. Usual fight for beds, typically all gone by 8.30am. Food Nice food, great salads. English breakfast and all other options. Nice meats, fish, veg. Not amazing but always a good choice, no complaints. Great service by the waiters, bringing drinks and anything you need. No brown sauce for my breakfast, 😞. Bar Bar by pool, good selection of cocktails and spirits in all inclusive. Sometimes only 1 person serving so 10 minutes wait. Nice snacks including fresh pizza, rolls and Greek salad. Entertainment Greek dancing, singers, karaoke. The karaoke was mostly German. Did aqua aerobics 3 times a week, not bad. No animation team, too small for that.

Below is my honest review of staying at this hotel (Sensus experience). location: Quiet location. If you're happy to sit back and relax, this is the hotel for you. If not, you can hire a car or use public transport to travel to nearby towns. Nearest beach is 20 minutes away, however hotel does provide a free shuttle bus. Hotel We stayed in the Sensus swim up room. Although the room was clean and housekeeping was good, there is no space to store luggage. What was disappointing is the lack of checks made around the pool. It was blatantly obvious that people were using the pool/sunbeds in those areas that were using the main hotel. Aelius, you can do better !! A keypad on a gate would eliminate people using the facility that haven't paid a premium. Food Having travelled around the world on many all inclusive holidays I can honestly say the food was disappointing. Not once during my 10 day stay was I able to have a hot meal. The food was stone cold. Again Aelius this is the biggest dissappintment of my whole stay. My husband and I resorted to eating outside the hotel. The sensus snack bar left a lot to be desired. Cold chicken nuggets, hash browns and spring rolls. The main hotel had freshly cooked pizza. Again, Aelius, you can do better for guests that have paid a premium. Entertainment Again poor. I would also ask the question, why allow children onto the hotel and provide no evening entertainment for them. Entertainment for the adults was seriously lacking. To summarise, this is not a 4 star. A few tweaks here and there and an overall re evaluation of the quality of food/dining experience, the hotel would easily reach full potential. .

We had the most fantastic time at Aelius Hotel and Spa — it truly exceeded our expectations. We stayed in one of the swim-up rooms, and it was absolutely worth every penny. It made the whole experience more fun and relaxing, especially with the sun shining every day. The buffet food was fantastic — fresh, delicious, and great quality with plenty of variety. The only small downside was not being able to get our own drinks at mealtimes, which felt a bit restrictive. That said, the staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help. There were even cats around the resort, which added a lovely, homely touch! There’s so much to do nearby too — we went on boat trips, visited Malia Old Town (only about 20 minutes away), and explored local restaurants and shops. We highly recommend hiring a car, as it gave us the freedom to explore more of this beautiful island. Crete completely stole our hearts — we fell in love with the island and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing yet adventure-filled getaway!

Check in was swift and the porter showed us to your room. Upon walking in there was an horrendous stench (not sure where it was coming from) we were told where the fridge and safe where. When we unpacked we realised that there wasn't a safe so we went to reception to tell them and also mention the awful smell. Porter came back and searched for the now invisible safe, after we were told that there was a safe! Surprise, the porter could not find the safe. So they sent someone else to check, I mean how many people does it take....... We also suffered horrendously with the noise from the pool pump, this kept me awake most of the night, the second night they put it on timer through the night and then it was repaired. We were sent a bottle of wine and fruit as way of apology. The room itself did look a lot bigger on the internet etc, I also wasn't fond of the curtain in the bathroom. I do not think the experience of having a private pool is worth the money, yes it is private to you, but you are overlooked by rooms above and also cement wagons going past all the time. You are also forgotten about as you are round the back of the hotel, we were never asked if we wanted any drinks throughout the day Room was cleaned whenever we wanted and towels changed, but the area where sunbeds where was never once cleaned all the time we were there, there was stains from people above dropping drinks and ash..... Waiters/waitresses were very friendly and always willing to help, food was ok, we were half board but only ate twice at the hotel on an evening. Entertainment was good, what we saw anyway.

Hotel is amazing! Food is always fresh and flavourful. Options for everyone. Particularly impressed with the Spa and Katerina our therapist. Me and my wife both had amazing treatments from Katerina and would definitely recommend her for any treatments. Would definitely come and stay here again!

First time at this hotel and did not disappoint in any way . Stayed in sensus part of hotel swim up room was lovely tastefully decorated . Guests in sensus have own pool area with bar and snacks Food in restaurant good plenty of choice Staff amazing so friendly and professional Anezina in sensus bar amazing great service Also Ludvia in main bar . Had hot candle massage with my partner first time was lovely Dimitra and Maria in the spa fabulous worth every euro spent Would visit again definitely in the future One tip would be if you can book sensus rooms as my partner and I found that when we went to breakfast around 9 there was limited sunbeds left around the main pool . The sensus area always had plenty of beds available so wasn’t a need to reserve . Thank you all hope to see you again soon .

From the moment we arrived to the time we left after a week there we enjoyed ourselves. We were staying all inclusive in the maisonette rooms in the Sensus part of the hotel, which is the best part to stay in because of the exclusive use of the beautiful pool and bar in this area. We were two friends with two teenage kids. The kids just loved the private pool there and the staff are just so lovely. Food and drinks are just lovely. Room has everything you need with a great shower separate from the toilet. The hotel is immaculately clean. There is a lovely restaurant right next to the hotel we ate in too which was fab aswell. We did a boat trip with lunch and snorkelling into a cave. We went to a water park called Watercity which is cool. Beach is walking distance about 10 mins but there are no paths. Cars are mindful of this but care is needed. I would definetly recommend the hotel and would return. There are lots of excursions to book and Gouves is great base to stay in but best to fly into Herklion abd not Chania if staying here. Chania is 2 and a half hour drive to Gouves. If I went back Id book a "swim up" room in the Senus part or one of the "jacuzzi" rooms.

Wouldn’t really consider this hotel to be a 4 star seems more like a 3 star. First of all with the positives the hotel it’s self is modern and looks good the rooms are a decent enough size. The staff at the bar are extremely friendly warm and welcoming. Hotel staff in the dining area are mostly friendly too. We were extremely unlucky with the weather which obviously can’t be helped by the hotel and we chose to go out of season however the hotel had absolutely no atmosphere with nothing at all to do around the hotel. There is not much in terms of local bars and restaurants close by and the surrounding area of the hotel is really quite run down. The beach is about 10/15 min walk but quite an unpleasant walk due to how run down the area is. There are bus stops close by which can take you to Heraklion or hersonissos for around €2pp takes about half an hour the taxi’s are around €35 each way. The area Gouves is really quiet with no nightlife. The all inclusive is the worst I have ever experienced. The drinks are absolutely disgusting the cocktails are awful. There is not much of a selection the usual cheaper unbranded spirits and do not offer a dark rum which is odd also do not offer a sparkling wine, you have to pay for Prosecco which I’ve never experienced before. Also have to pay for certain juices. At meal times you can’t pour yourself a drink even of soda you are offered a minute glass and only offered when you sit down to eat not offered a re fill obviously to save money. The food is extremely repetitive and a very limited selection and honestly found it quite difficult to make a meal as seemed quite an odd selection. Breakfast was not good bread always stale. Very small selection of cereal and cheap fruit on offer. There is a choice of about 3 types of desserts which were not great. The rooms are cleaned regularly and the cleaning staff all seemed very friendly fresh towels regularly. However around the hotel could be cleaner often plates cups ect lying around for days. The soap dispensers are empty and do not get refilled you are only offered a tiny miniature bottle of shampoo to wash your hands with again to save money.
