My partner and I came to Crete for 10 days in September, and stayed at Cretan Malia Park. We had a wonderful time – the room was beautiful and the whole resort was gorgeous. Incredible food, we tried every restaurant and particularly enjoyed the Cretan one. The staff were so lovely and friendly.

One thing for future travellers to be aware of – it's a VERY family-friendly hotel. I'd say it is a family hotel first and foremost, honestly. We were one of the only parties there without children. But, the children were all pretty well behaved and it certainly didn't spoil our stay.

The music in the bar in the evenings was so lovely, especially the beautiful setting over the pool with the light. And we had a great time on the beach too.

My top tip would be that the best sun loungers by the main pool are by far the orange beds, they have shade you can move around and aren't on the grass which can become muddy. It would have been nice to have more of those.

Only downside for us was that the quieter River pool, with signs asking children not to play or be loud and so was more adult-only, only had poolside beds dedicated for particular bungalows/rooms. Some days they weren't used all day, but they were designated as for those rooms still, so we couldn't use them. This was a bit frustrating when the main pool was full of kids having fun, and the river pool was beautifully quiet and peaceful. We could still use that pool, but we couldn't relax by it. I'd love it if the hotel would rethink that policy.

That really was the only downside, otherwise we had such a wonderful stay and would definitely visit again.

Very nice looking hotel with poor service levels. More of a 4*, not 5*. Messed up our reservations, tried to overcharge us, also made lots of small mistakes, and were not very apologetic, even the manager. When I shared feedback the staff did not welcome it, instead being defensive and saying "this is how we do things". No desire to listen and improve. Not value for money.

Also loads of children - a lot more than we expected.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE. DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL.

🛌Rooms:
As the hotel claims to be member a member of Design Hotels, we expected a well furnished room. Instead it was pretty basic and not design at all. Maybe you just need to put a FAKE
FlowerPot VP1 pendant light from &Tradition in the room.

Furthermore the furniture within the room looked pretty used and as they have their best days behind them.

🚽Cleanliness:
We expected also 5 stars when it comes to cleanliness, but here we clearly need to say it was max. 3 start niveau. There as a lot of sand and hair in the bathroom when we arrived, we expected that during the next day somebody would clean that during the morning routine. Did not happen. After the second day, we had to go down and mentioned it specifically. Afterwards it was clean. BUT only for one day. Nothing changed and we were pretty frustrated and tired of mentioning it every day.

Furthermore we had a lot of ants in our room. We had to mentioned that twice. It changed after that, and we now had to live with a graveyard of ants on front of our door.

📢 Noise:
Be careful when you choose a room. I would not recommend to have one in the main building. Reason is that the rooms are super clairaudible. In the early morning you can hear the busses arrive to pick up or drop off new guest and night until 22:30 / 23:00 PM you will have a DJ live set banging. Afterwards if you are lucky, the people at the outside bar will laugh and talk, which you will hear in your room.

🍔Food:
The food was okay. Also here, the expectation for a 5 star hotel is higher. In the main restaurant you will have a buffet. The nice part is that they prepare plates for daily specials, which look restaurant like.

You can also eat in one of the other restaurants. We had half-board, and therefore had to pay these meals. We went 2 times, it is super expensive and the quality is more or less like a pretty normal restaurant in a bigger city.

💸 Price:
The price for one night was for us approximately 350 EUR, and in a nutshell it was not worth it. Additionally you need to consider as another commenter mentioned the day-light-robbery. I attached the pricing sheet of the restaurant and bars. As you can see a normal beer will cost you 6,50 EUR and an Aperol 13,00 EUR. But no worries you can also eat bread for 9 EUR or pretty basic pasta for 19 EUR which will come with almost 10 mussels. Wow 10 complete mussels…

For a 5* hotel, I expected more.
The service is pretty shocking honestly, everything was below a 3*, aside from Dayanna, who quite frankly is the only person who seems to understand and value customer service.
Rooms- at first it was just me and my daughter and the room was fine, just what we needed but definitely not luxury.
My partner and other child came out for the last 3 days and we “upgraded” for €1400 and the room again was fine, but nothing special. Definitely not worth the money.
Cleanliness- low: there was a bottle of wine with glasses around the pool for 3 days before I said something and they moved it.
My main concern; the manager on the desk. I am disgusted by the way he spoke to female staff and also how he spoke to me until my partner arrived.
Positives- the Italian is wonderful. The food in the pool restaurant is amazing.
Negatives- customer service in the pool restaurant was 0/10. I knocked over a glass of wine in front of staff as soon as it arrived (my fault) but it took them 20 minutes to clear it up and then I had to ask for another, which they charged me for (I understand this but being in customer service I expected different).
Kids clubs lacks any energy compared to other hotels we have been to. Entertainment in the evening…just don’t bother.
Just disappointing all round, could be so much better if there was a bit more attention to detail and a bit more customer care.

Very aesthetic hotel with calm atmosphere and coniferous trees. Peaceful vibe, tasty food and very good evening show, especially Dj&Sax!

I’ve recently stayed at the Cretan Malia Park 5* hotel. It’s an amazing place with five different restaurants, two pools and an own access to the beautiful sand beach. The food was delicious. For me there was almost everything included, because I chose the all inclusive package. Most of the food was Cretan style and there was also an Italian restaurant. The vegetarian and vegan options are very good! The staff was very friendly and the place was really beautiful and quiet. I especially liked the nice (live) evening music at the pool. I just need to say that the older part of the hotel needs a renovation, but it’s really just a small criticism and despite of that everything is very clean. Generally the place is in a very good in shape and the atmosphere is almost like in paradise 🏝️🥰🌅 I’d like to thank everyone, especially the staff, for making such a great experience possible!

Transfer and Tours In Crete

Our clients enjoyed a lot their stay.
Very clean and comfort rooms.
Friendly and helpful staff!

We spent 5 fantastic days at Cretan Malia. Swimming in the river pool, playing with our children in the main pool and having a mezze, or getting a drink by the sea with the superb beach private beach view.
Restaurants are great; I highly recommend Mouries (Cretan food is brilliantly prepared and waiters make you feel at home)

Visited with our 5-year-old and had a fantastic stay! The Little Explorers Kids' Club offered top-notch activities from 10:00 to 21:00, ensuring endless fun for our little one. Beyond this, the hotel boasts pristine facilities, delightful dining options, and a tranquil beachfront setting. A must-visit for families. Highly recommend!

I feel this hotel is somewhat confused about what they are. They "think" they are a 5 start deluxe hotel, but the right vibe is not there, and they have made some strange choices. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so unless you want to eat in the overpriced and not that impressive restaurants, you have to walk a bit. (or take a cab if you are so inclined). We walked to a local restaurant about 1 km away, which had local food and a pretty decent quality. Our whole meal with wine and all, was less than a single steak dish at the hotel. A nice think arriving by car is that they have free private parking for the guests. An example of the strange choices they have made, is that they have gone all in on digitalisation. If you want to book a table in one of the restaurants for example, you have to download and install and app on your phone, and make the reservation yourself; and to make things even worse you have to reserve a table for breakfast, that's a first for me. We are fine, and since we ate dinner somewhere else, we never really bothered, and for breakfast we just showed up at ethnic themed restaurant, and they were really friendly and served us with no issues, even though they were just about to close. Another thing that don't really point toward 5 stars, is that this is a family hotel, so there was allot of kids running around, playing and being loud, even in the bar at night, where their parents were busy having a drink and the kids were busy disturbing everyone else in the bar area. The room was not cleaned properly, there was spiderweb with lots of baby spiders in it in both the bathroom, and in the bedroom. Once you found the web, it was clear that they only clean the floor, and don't really pay any attention elsewhere in the rooms. The floor in the room is brick, so if they are open in the winter, I have to imagine it's to cold. In the bar, we waited for 10 minutes, while the waiter was busy clearing tables. There was only about 10 people in the bar area outside where we were seated, but after waiting for 10 minutes, with the staff ignoring us, we decided to give up on getting a drink, and went to bed instead. I could probably write more, but I think it's clear enough, why I don't think they qualify for 5 stars.

What would you advise to other guests and to the hotel owner. The more fully you tell about the hotel, the easier it will be for other people to make a choice and they will be very grateful to you!
