Esperides Resort Crete, The Authentic Experience

Just returned from the idilic little village of Koutouloufari and the most picturesque little hotel Villa Diktynna. This has to be the prettiest place I have ever stayed, with its beautiful bougainvillea, plants and fruit trees in the grounds. We stayed in a pool view maisonette which had everything you could want for a self catering stay. I know some rooms had amazing sea views too. The pool is very small (but well maintained). I think it is much better suited to adults (than children) as there is not so much much room for swimming but it’s perfect for cooling off. The staff are all very kind and the barman is quite funny. He makes a special raki cocktail that I would recommend and cares for a little stray cat and kitten that visit every night which is very sweet. There are lots of repeat guests and I can see why.

Wonderful stay in this delightful hotel/villa. We opted for a room with a pool view, (with gorgeous pink bouganvillea everywhere). In hot weather it is worth paying a little extra for the air con.
Owner Anna is a gem, going above & beyond to help with anything you need.
Bar area run by Vangelis, open until gone midnight.
Small pool area. Can get busy so be ready to bag a sunbed early !!
Great location, being less than a 5 min walk into the village for the 40+ restaurants, within 1.5km.
Fresh towels provided each day by a friendly team of cleaners, who spend 10mins changing the bins and mopping the floor.
Definately returning. Def recommend. Great value for money.

Lovely stay for a good price! Vangelis was very helpful and kind. The room was clean, modern and stylish. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful apartments, a short walk away from shops, bars and restaurants, cannot wait to return to see vangellis and Anna, not only is vangellis a Ray of sunshine but also a proud Greek happy to share his wisdom with the world, both he and Anna greeted us with the warmest welcome but went above and beyond to ensure our stay with them was a remarkable one and they certainly did not disappoint, rooms were immaculate as well as spacious or certainly big enough for my family, with all the amenities provided was like home from home. Many thanks vangellis and Anna look forward to seeing you both again.

My wife and I are seasoned Greek travellers and our two weeks in Koutouloufari was our third stay on the island of Crete.

Villa Diktynna uses the classic Greek formula of multi level accommodation surrounding it's pool and snack bar. Situated on the outskirts of Koutouloufari village, Diktynna makes the most of it's elevated position offering stunning views of the Cretan coastline from many of it's rooms although a few of the lower level rooms have a view of the pool and it's surroundings (also a very pretty view).

Our room (B6) had been recently renovated as have most, if not all of the others.
The room was bright and spacious with a new kitchenette, Island table with seating, dressing table area with built in drawers, cupboards and having rail.
Also there's also a new air-con unit (€7 per day), hair dryer, clothes iron and safe.

The outside balcony area had a table and two chairs and was spacious enough to sit and watch the world go by with a cool drink before heading out, there was also a handy fold out clothes drier.

The shower room also benefits from new sanitary ware with cupboard space for nik-naks and plenty of hooks for towels (can't stand a floor sodden towel). The shower itself was very powerful with changeable head settings and was never short of hot water during our entire stay.

The room was cleaned every other day to high standard by a very friendly lady who would leave replacement towels and additional toilet rolls.

The chlorine pool is cleaned religiously every evening and shuts at 7pm.
The sunbathing area is larger than we expected with plenty of beds in a reserve pile if required, although they were not needed during our stay...even when the apartments were full to capacity.
There's also a brand new communal toilet/shower block that's been recently added downstairs from the pool area.

Everything at Dyktynna happens under the watchful eye of Vangelis.
His Saharan dry sense of humour and gruff Greek exterior are all a bluff.
There are many reasons that so many people return here, but I would imagine that as a reason.. Vangelis would be up there.
Due to a delayed flight and an absent connection, we didn't arrive at our accommodation until nearly 2am.
Vangelis showed us to our room and although the bar was empty and all but shut he offered us food and drink, going out of his way make two weary travellers feel welcome.
Throughout our stay Vangelis went above and beyond, from booking taxis and restaurants to arranging car hire and keeping our room on due to a late departure time.
Nothing was too much for him, a true Greek gentleman.

Staying at Villa Diktynna have left us with some of our fondest memories of Greece.
And although we tend not to return to the same place..(after all, there are so many other places to try)..we may make an exception with this place!

First time staying at villa Dyktynna and myself and my husband were not disappointed. Anna and Vangellis were really wonderful checking us in really efficiently and escorting us to our room. Room was really lovely modern, clean everything you need for a holiday was there. The location was excellent near to all amenities wehad a fantastic holiday and will definitely book again and highly reccomend.

Having visited Koutouloufari many times this was our first stay at Villa Diktynna, we were not disappointed. First impressions came with an efficient welcome at reception followed by a walk through the lovely clean floral filled pool area with plenty of sun beds & umbrellas which looked great, our two bedroom apartment was clean, modern & perfectly sized for us, the balcony wrapped around two sides of the apartment giving pool & sea views along with a lovely breeze on a hot day.
Throughout our stay the pool was never over crowded (spare beds if needed) & the pool bar was great, some may say the selection is not the biggest, however if you enjoy a lovely fresh salad you can’t go wrong!
Apartment was cleaned everyday with towels changed 3 times & being twice in a one week stay.
We will definitely be returning, we couldn’t fault our stay.

Great location ! Best place. Very clean.
