The location is decent. It might take a while to get to the city centre, however the area is quite pleasant: it is safe, there's a store just across the hotel and bus stops nearby, which make getting around Budapest more convenient.
There's a working lift, free parking, and breakfast available at an additional cost.
The rooms are spacious and tidy. While the furniture might be old and a bit worn, it is functional and clean, too. Amenities include a working AC, a small fridge, a hairdryer and a TV.
Wi-Fi connection is not very efficient in the evening (probably due to increased usage), though in the mornings it works fine.
The temperature in the room can get quite high during summertime in Budapest, but the AC makes the heat manageable. The place might not be ideal for light sleepers — the traffic noise from outside can be noticeable at night.
I think staff's communication with the guests could be improved, though any questions/requests I had were addressed by the staff at the reception.
The hotel got a new owner recently, who's already bringing positive changes: the building and the furniture are getting renovated.
Overall, a very decent place to stay in Budapest at, arguably, the best price out there. I didn't expect much, and ended up enjoying my stay incredibly. If you're not looking for anything fancy, there's no need to search further, imo.
I strongly recommend avoiding this place—I stayed here, and honestly, I regret every second of it. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left (one day earlier than planned!), it was a complete disaster.
The room was in terrible shape: the doors were noisy and wouldn’t close properly, the balcony door had a huge gap, letting in cold air at night and street noise that made sleeping impossible, and the chair’s armrest was broken. They didn’t even provide the basics like shampoo or hand soap. And to top it off, the toilet lid was broken, making it impossible to sit comfortably.
I contacted Booking.com multiple times about how bad the hotel was, and while they tried reaching out, the hotel just ignored them. I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to leave early.
But wait—it gets worse. They asked for a deposit at check-in, either €50 or my passport. I chose to give them the money, and thank god I didn’t hand over my passport! When I checked out, they claimed they had lost my deposit pocket and had no euros in cash. The only option they gave me was Hungarian Forints—completely useless for me. After making me wait over an hour and a half, I ended up missing the shuttle bus to the airport and had to pay for an Uber, costing me another €30.
This was hands down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else—even if it costs more. It will be worth it.
They told us we could stay at the reception, and we asked for water and they just ignored us.
And the refrigerator and TV are not working in the room!
The bed was broken and the hotel knew as it was propped up with a couple of timbers.
