The Moon Boutique Hotel & Spa

Studied many hotel options for our recent visit to Florence... looking to be near the train station and historic center but out of the crowds.

We were so pleased we selected The Moon Hotel perfectly located in a very nice residential area.

Billy helped us with our luggage, checked us into our rooms, served us coffee and drinks in the bar area and gave us transportation advice.

The breakfast staff were very professional but also so friendly, responsive to any request.

This is a unique small hotel experience that we highly recommend.

I don’t usually write reviews but very happy with this one.

- Clean almost at each corner. Many big hotel brands like Marriott probably can’t get each of their hotels to this standard. During our day time out they cleaned the room, re did the beddings and even took care of some of our clothes that need to be washed.
- Mini bar. Many hotels also serve drinks like they do but they have free and accessible iced lemon water and cookies all day long. The iced water actually made a difference to us when we just landed and felt very thirsty and hot…
- Breakfast. Presentation and taste both very satisfying. Fruit supplied in the morning was also very fresh. Although the pancake was a bit different from the picture on menu.
- Spa. We booked one at 7pm after a day out, and when we arrived they had put everything needed on the bed including bathrobes, towels and slippers so you can just go straight downstairs to use the spa. Temperature and cleanliness in steam room are just perfect although the water temperature in jacuzzi is a bit too cold for us.
- Good Transportation. It’s 15 min walk from train station but you have a bus stop and tram station at the hotel front door. We used the tram and bus everyday cus too hot. If you ask walk for mins under 35 degree to tourist places I definitely would rather hope I have a bus/tram just in front of the door!

In case the owner is keen to further improve - water supply is not the best we found it took a moment to wait for the hot water; the design of the shower room has a small bug that you can’t put small stuff in the caddy it would fall easily.

Before arrival I was worried about some negative comments about the hotel having too many rules like can’t have takeaway. But after visiting I kinda appreciate them. It really won’t be a problem if you’re a tourist cus we always have meals at restaurants outside and this is also for hygiene purposes so the hotel smells good.

Would I book it again if given the chance to visit Florence? Yes I guess so. Living in a nice and reliable hotel really reduces my worries and stress! There are always tourist traps outside of hotel make my day difficult sometimes… at least I know I can easily relax at the moon…

Visited Florence for seven nights and stayed at The Moon Boutique Hotel in August 2024.

The room and hotel were beautiful and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Daniel was on the desk most of the time and couldn't have been more helpful. A genuine credit to the hotel.

The breakfast was fantastic (three courses with prosecco).

The spa was great too, not really my thing but my wife assures me it was top notch. It was very relaxing.

The hotel is one tram stop from the centre (€1.70) with the tram stop directly outside.

I would have no problems recommending The Moon Boutique Hotel. 5 stars all round.

Hotel and amenities: 5 stars- Beautiful white marble floors and mirrored rooms. Everything was incredibly clean and taken care of. The Spa which was available in three time segments was absolutely clutch for a mid day break for rest and relaxation. The time slots you could reserve were in 1.5 hour intervals starting from 4pm -8:30pm. My partner and I would wake up, go into town to do our tourist exploring and then come back to our room between 4-6 depending on the day. We would then enjoy the Spa which was super clean and super modern for an hour, and then get ready for dinner. This was a three day routine that we did and it was perfect for us. The Spa never had more than 6 people in there.

Service: 5 stars. They would bring up robes and sandals 15 minutes before your time slot and if you weren’t in your room, they would leave it on your bed so you would have it ready. The reception guys spoke perfect English and helped with everything we ever asked for. I needed a steamer for my shirt one night. I asked and it was brought to my room within 5 minutes. We went out a different night and I asked the receptionist to take a few photos of us in the lobby… and he gladly did a photo shoot for us. Service was impeccable.

Location: 5 stars. Right outside the hotel was a tram stop that was one stop away from the Florence train terminal. So from the train station it was a quick one stop tram ride. Two of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at (see my other reviews in Florence for that) were within a 10 min walk if this place. I would def come back to this spot if we ever go back to Florence.

Super good service (all staff are so kind). Beautiful room and facility (although did not have time to try the spa which is a pity).
Own parking, very secure. Nice location.
The breakfast is among the best I’ve had. Highly recommend the “bacon and fried eggs” on the breakfast menu. Love it so much that I ordered it every morning.

The Moon is beautiful hotel in the heart of Florence, walking distance to the River Arno and most of the city attractions ( 15 min walk to the Duomo), spotless clean, modern with a luxury feeling. Marble floors and all the decor look so sparkling.The The staff was very welcoming and friendly and helped with many suggestions on restaurants, bars and markets. Breakfast was a wonderful experience everything freshly made and local. Next time in Florence I will definitely stay here again. We enjoyed every moment of our stay in the hotel and in Florence. Amazing boutique hotel. Staff was super nice and helpful. Free breakfast is amazing, especially the eggs. Rooms are large for European hotels and perfectly clean!

We stayed at this hotel end of August 2019 our first time in Florence first impression as we arrived was wow !!!!!!The stylish decor and ambiance of this place was stunning !The staff were warm and welcoming and were very helpful in every way ! The rooms were of a very high standard and spotless with tea coffee facilities plus a welcomed free mini bar in the room which was re stocked everyday ! There was a wide selection and choice of continental English breakfast which was superb we couldn’t fault the food or staff they were very attentive and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had a lovely surprise complimentary bottle of bubbly sent up to our room ! we would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back here again with good location from central station only one stop away on monorail and short walk to centre!We would like to say special thankyou to Elena on reception who helped us above and beyond her duties she was kind and welcoming as was her colleagues and all staff at breakfast you all made our stay here very memorable ! Beautiful space. We very much enjoyed our time here. The rooms are cute and the breakfast is delicious! All the staff were very nice. The only thing I would change is the scent on the linens. I am sensitive to smells and the sheets smelled very strongly. One night it was hard to fall asleep because the fragrance was too much.
