We were worried about this place because of the reviews, but in fact this place was really nice! I stayed in 4 stars hotels (Venice, Florence and Rome) but this one was the best! It's modern style hotel. There was no mosquito. Staffs were nice and no one was racist(based on review). They were all responsive and friendly. Our 5 days staying was a pleasant experience! I am wondering why people didn't like this place.

If you like a cool room DO NOT STAY HERE, air conditioning is controlled by the reception and cannot be set lower than what is set downstairs.

Our visit was in June. The hotel backs on to a school. We stayed for 4 nights, and for 2 of those nights, the school had graduation celebrations until midnight. This meant loud music in an otherwise quiet location.

However, the location was good. There is good access to both the metro and trams and buses.

We found that we had to ask for the room's amenities to be topped up almost every day (i.e. toilet paper). We also ran out of shower gel. The hotel was quick to replenish though.

The room was nice, slightly on the smaller side but the bed was very very comfortable. Ours was a firm memory foam, which was really really great. We had a slight issue with power points in the room. In order to use our travel adapter to charge our phones we needed to unplug the bedside lamps, which is a shame. Also, it is not possible to use the kettle without first crawling under the desk and unplugging the fridge, to make it possible to plug the kettle in.

We got the breakfast option and were pleasantly surprised. We had expected to be offered only continental breakfast buffet, but actually there were also some limited egg options available and some really nice fried vegetables. However, strict vegetarians may have an issue with cross contamination of utensils with meat options.

For the price we paid, we feel that 3* is a fair rating. It was better value than other options we explored in Rome and the style of the rooms was nice for us.

+ The bed was big and comfortable

- The conditioner was controlled from the reception. So every time you need to switch it on/off or change the temperature, you need to call to reception. Haven’t seen this kind of madness anywhere else.
- Two evenings there was no hot water in the bathroom. When we called reception about this issue, we were advised ‘to stay patient, as the hotel is fully booked’ and were also accused in being angry. The administrator wasn’t even trying to be helpful or at least friendly.
- The room was dirty. There were hair and nails on the floor.
- The shower cabin is really old and very small.
- There was no nozzle for the hair dryer, so it was very uncomfortable to use it.
- Free water was given only on the first day, then you have to pay for it. I’ve never seen anything like this in 4 star hotel.
- The duvet cover was very strange and inconvenient, actually it looked like the blanket is simply put between two sheets.

I’ve no idea how this hotel may have 4 stars and cost €200 per night. It’s the worst value for money I’ve ever had.

The on of the older male staff at the reception had a very unpleasant attitude.

- He threw my credit card back at me.
- He became angry when I pointed out discrepancies between the reservation details from the travel agent and the hotel.
- He repeatedly pointed his finger at me in a threatening manner.
- His English proficiency was quiet low, making communication difficult.

I checked in around 3pm on the 27th.

DO NOT STAY in this hotel. My belongings were stolen here during my stay. Unfortunately me and my husband checked out today and noticed we were missing a big purchase we made and notified the hotel immediately by phone call. No call back was made after the employee said he will notify cleaning service. When you got back to the hotel to pickup our luggage, my belongings were not found and cleaning service states they did not find anything. I asked for the cameras to be monitored because I checked in the hotel with my purchase in hand. I am really upset and concerned because we chose a hotel for safety issues as I am 5 months pregnant and now we don’t know if there are more personal things missing from our belongings.

Very racist staff. Not recommended. I reach at 2pm told me all rooms are checked in and very rude when talking to me. Not a four star hotel definitely. The front desk staff very arrogant.

Having been let down with our original hotel by the station, we were walking the streets early hours of the morning trying to find a hotel to stay. The night manager at St John (Mehran)was amaaaazing. He realised our predicament and booked us a room for the night. This is such a lovely hotel, great staff, management, service, food, In fact nothing was too much trouble. We are so glad we came across this hotel and would always recommend it to others. Thank you for everything...You went above and beyond to help us!!

Stayed for 2 nights, the room was good. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from metro station. Walking distance from the Colosseum. Will stay again.

Excellent staff - warm, attentive and helpful. Very good breakfast. Very comfortable beds with good clean linens. Unfortunately our bathroom was not very well-maintained and had mold around the tub/shower. Other parts of the hotel seemed very clean. Location is very easy to get to from the colosseum or the train station, a little outside of touristic areas in Rome. Overall a pleasant experience, only the bathroom left a lot to be desired.
