Hotel Principe Torlonia

The worst hotel I’ve stayed in my life time. No air con even though it’s stated there is. Hotel receptionist offered a fan. Room got switched and it smelled like faeces. It’s a one star. Avoid at all costs.

Would never stay there again. Reception staff was abrupt and inconsiderate. Rooms had a damp smell , dusty headboards and insects. Pictures are deceiving from what it actually is.

I have no idea how this hotel is a four-star hotel. It was absolutely the worst stay we had while in Italy. Our room was in the basement. When we got to the bottom floor, it smelled like a zoo. Once we got into our room, it smelled of mildew and everything was wet. I didn't feel comfortable stepping on the floors without shoes on. The staff was fine, but definitely didn't go out of their way to see that we were comfortable or if we needed any help with anything. They were borderline rude. And the shower wouldn't drain and would've flooded the bathroom had we not turned it off.

The hotel also wasn't easy to find. Our taxi driver couldn't even find it. I'm just glad we were only there one night.

We booked on booking.com and looked for a hotel where our dog can stay with us. We were happy to find this place with the note „pets allowed“ on the website. Exhausted from the long ride we finally arrived and the service personal told us we could not stay with our dog, its only aloud to take small dogs and we have a labrador, so he is obviously much bigger. We explained the personal that he is very calm (much more than any „small“ dog which are always loud) and we would stay anyway just for the one night - but they didnt accepted us and we needed to find another hotel last minute. I dont understand why they promote themselves as pet friendly but dont accept a normal sized dog - its a dog not an elefant. We were travelling trough italy since to weeks, from cinque terre to amalficoast and rom, but this was the first time something like that happend. Very disappointing!
